A #music question some of my #musician followers might be able to answer: what’s the difference between stems and tracks? Recently AI has been talking a lot about stems for music. And apparently people who make #dolby or Spatial Audio remasters want them. But my tiny non #musical brain can’t understand how stems and tracks are different. I know that tracks are, like, in a multitrack editor like audacity you could have one track for vocals, and maybe one track for each instrument. And AI websites that offer stems seem to do the same thing?Did the AI people just reinvent multitrack recording and call tracks stems?

As a #blind #musician I am so grateful for Bill McCann and Dancing Dots.

It is with the Lime Aloud suite that I created my first printable scores for choir, bells and other instruments. On December 15, Yeamans Park Presbyterian Church in Hanahan, SC where I currently serve in the music department, presented five of the ten songs from my "Living That Story" Advent/Christmas musical as part of our "Big Music Sunday." It was an honor to collaborate with the choir, children, bell choir, guest oboist and guest cellist to put this presentation together. My best friend, Audrey, wrote the accompanying script and served as the narrator. She, her guide dog Bernie, the children, oboist, cellist and I all gathered with the choir in the chancel area, and it was truly a joy-filled event!

Dancing Dots products have been part of my professional musicianship for over 20 years and I just had to give a shoutout to Bill and anyone who has ever been part of the Dancing Dots team.

Here is a link to the church service for anyone who would like to hear it. The cantata begins at around the 21-minute mark of the video.

As it has been a while and I could have done this better last time here’s my #introduction. I’m a #blind #parent, #braille user, and #musician. I have been blind for 5 years, learned braille over the last 3 years, and spend most of my time juggling being a stay at home dad, and staff for #OurBlind, mainly on our Discord and the r/blind subreddit. I also read a lot, mainly fantasy, mostly on my #kindle with the #voiceview #screenreader, though also read on a #Brailledisplay.

I just wrote a song with lyrics and chords supplied by #ChatGPT!

Recorded it for you, enjoy!

The prompt:
"Create an emo song with lyrics and guitar chords that evoke sadness and loneliness. Make the chorus have different chords than the verses."

Verse 1:
G C
Lost and alone
Am D
In this cold world
G C
My heart is a stone
Am D
No one to hold

Chorus:
F C
Emptiness fills me
G D
Loneliness chokes me
F C
I am fading away
G D
In my own misery

(There's more but no room)
