Er, wait... that $100M contract with Elon Musk's Starlink that Doug Ford "ripped up"? Doug Ford signed that deal himself when Trudeau wouldn't make a deal with Musk, conning Ontario taxpayers out of $100M for a service worth less than $14M.

Now he's calling a snap election while taking credit for undoing his own crooked deal (with added penalty costs to Ontario taxpayers). The news is only covering his ripping up of the contract, not the origins of the contract to begin with.

The CAQ government's dirty little not-so-secret secret about the province's emergency rooms is a refusal to continue to educate, vaccinate, update, etc. the citizens about COVID-19, influenza, RSV, etc. spreading at an alarming rate..

But, hey, CAQists are gainfully employed at the fancy, new bloated piece of garbage organization *COUGH* SANTÉ QUÉBEC *COUGH* to put out lies and bullshit and make cuts to healthcare. montreal.citynews.ca/2025/01/3…

As if Shopify's policies of propping up Breitbart, QAnon, Proud Boys, etc. wasn't reason enough to dump Shopify in the past, right?

If you deal with #Shopify for your website, etc., consider dumping them immediately.

Canada is a sovereign nation.

WE WILL NOT BE ANNEXED BY ECONOMIC FORCE.

WE WILL NOT BE ANNEXED BY MILITARY FORCE.

Canadians are kind and Canadians are nice... to a point.

The USA, under the pissant administration, has mistaken our kindness and our niceness for weakness.

FYI The initial tariff list... personally, we have a handful of things we'll need to find substitutions for, i.e. protein shakes, wet wipes, etc., but that's not a bad thing, IMNSHO.

ALSO: Going to stop patronizing certain pissant-supporting companies, i.e. Walmart, etc.

It’s been a rough few weeks for Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, who will be stepping down next month. But tonight he gave a powerful speech that should make all Canadians proud. It wasn’t carried by American television. But my American friends, I hope you will watch it and share it. And understand that for us, this betrayal is about more than economics. youtu.be/xiaACQpFUfE #Canada #tariffs #cdnpoli #t

Canadian Labour Congress calls for massive retaliation against US tarrifs, including full cutoff of electricity, critical minerals, and O&G. Also demanded are matching tariffs, worker support programs, and diversification away from US economy.

If this is what's being demanded in the open, I'm curious the extent union labour in strategic sectors might put on their wooden shoes. Dumping of American goods in Canadian ports seems very plausible.

Postmedia is only 00.37% Canadian-owned.
One-third of one percent.
This explains the many columns in their pages right now promoting US annexation of Canada or Alberta succession to the US. #cdnpoli #postmedia #media

So, who is Canada about to elect? It's so shameful.

Please let's be better than this.

Huh, since I've literally never been afforded the luxury of paying a capital gains tax and thanks to CBC's "like I'm a five-year-old" explanation, I realize I had some misconceptions about how it all works.

Before, when I thought it was an actual tax on investment earnings, 66% seemed fantastic. Now I'm wondering why it's not 100% and why the Liberals made the first quarter million exempt from the increase.

Man, corporations really want to put a stop to libraries:

cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/otta…

"Depending on the title, public libraries may pay two or three times more for an e-book than they pay for its print edition. In some cases, the e-book may be up to six times the price, librarians told CBC."

"Those publishers ... will often license copies of e-books for just 12 or 24 months. Once that licence expires, libraries must repurchase access to the same book." #canada #cdnpoli #books

Canadian dollar dips below 70 cents US for first time since March 2020 | CBC News

Canada is not an ally of the USA, it is a vassal state.

Just the posturing of an incoming POTUS is enough to cause severe damage to our economy.

We are suddenly spending $1 billion more on defending our border, not on preventing the flood of guns FROM the US, but on preventing the trickle of drugs and migrants TO the US.

Trump couldn't force Mexico to pay for the wall but he is forcing Canada to pay for border patrols to prevent smuggling into the US, which is surely the job of the USA.

Just a note to my fellow Canadians, that this is most of the cause of the Canada Post strike that you're all complaining about during Christmas. Harper gutted public funding for Canada Post and told them to run like a business. They are an essential public service, and should not be run for profit!

"For example, I’m developing a device for newborn care that monitors infants’ body temperature, skin colour, eye colour, weight and heart rate, among other factors, to track their health, particularly during those critical first few weeks of life. It could save lives. Think of how many other students have ideas and skills we can’t even imagine yet.

That’s why it’s so disheartening to hear some Canadians talk about international students like we’re parasites. I pay about $12,000 per semester in tuition—far more than Quebec residents do. I have a campus job as a kitchen supervisor to cover my expenses, and I live in a small two-bedroom apartment with a roommate. People like me are not responsible for Canada’s problems. But we can help solve them, contributing to the country’s cultural diversity, its economy, its innovation and its growth. And by bridging gaps between nations, we help build a more inclusive society for everyone."

Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke is calling for the end of Canada’s public postal service because its workers have gone on strike.

The company’s leaders are increasingly pushing extreme right-wing positions in Canada. Gutting Canada Post would effectively end delivery in many rural and remote communities because it’s not profitable for private companies to serve them.
