So. thought I'd pen some thoughts here... no, not about birdsite, but about a cool youtube channel I discovered a couple of years ago, The Radio Vault. Its a youtube channel dedicated to #preservation of mostly New Zealand and Australian radio. They recently announced that they've been hard at work, digitizing over 750 #VHS #tapes, and over 1500 #cassettes. Wow! I can't even begin to imagine what 1500 cassettes would look like! I had about 100 when I was younger, but 1500? *head explodes*. Here's the link. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClKbJxBkh40Kn_9gRARSFag #Australia #NZ #Radio

VHS machine in action: load, play, fast forward, rewind, play, seek forward and backward, stop, eject.

I admire the engineering that makes all the parts work so good together. For example, tape loading is done with one motor that is attached to a gear that can be seen in the top right corner. Thanks to different sensors and the rotary encoder that is connected to the gear, the VHS machine can also check if it is in a valid state or not and by that prevent tape damage.
