I am pretty sure every one here know about vibe coding where novices writing apps by creating a simple AI prompt. Guess what? Microsoft wants to introduce a similar thing for its Office apps. Anybody can be accountant or write tax or legal advice advice using vibe working 😒 theverge.com/news/787076/micro…

Me thinks it is just another step to replace and fire human workers from office. That is all. Vibe working my ass.

That is a Mastodon bug: github.com/mastodon/mastodon/i…
They send invalid media urls in the delete response, making it impossible for us to reuse them.
someone sent them a fix, Masto Team ignores it 🤷‍♂️

iOS Hackers, crackers and jailbreakers. I have a client with an iPhone 5c that they only use as an iPod. They do not have a mobile plan. They do not want to buy a new device, and do not want a mobile plan. Is there a way to bypass mobile activation on iOS 10.3.4? It says sim card required. I tried a few of my own just to activate it, but it appears to be carrier locked. Help would be greatly appreciated.

@menelion When you are providing a paid service, these are all covered by the legal agreements for the service (or payment). You don’t need to collect any of this for someone to browse your web site and decide if they want to buy it. And if you are asking me for consent to this kind of data harvesting before we have a business agreement then I know that you can’t be trusted with the kind of data that you would need if we complete the sale, so I am bouncing immediately before you even get a chance to pitch your product.

Objevil jsem teď pro zakládání eventů v rámci #fediverse službu gath.io. Vypadá to hodně zajímavě. Funguje to tak, že to pro event vytvoří account (s náhodě vygenerovaným handlem), kde je popis eventu. Pokud mu z Mastodonu dáte follow, tak vám přes DM pošle anketu, jestli se zúčastníte, nebo ne. A taky vám to přes DM posílá notifikace o updatech apod. V rámci Friendicy (příp. jinýho softu, kterej podporuje Event activity) by se to mělo chovat jako klasickej event (podobně jako na FB).

It seems painfully obvious that we gotta do something about the the current ludicrous level of inequality. Dunno if this is it, but glad they’re trying.

Hello Mastodon!
We wanted to announce that we are on signal if you want to find us there.
We also have whatsapp but we aren't going to give out our number to just anyone.
We have stopped using telegram, because we'd rather not feed Elon Musk's AI.
If you want our signal username, DM us.
Just putting this out here so that people can find us outside of mastodon, if they wish.

Wait, really? Telegram is sending our chats to this dude? Disgusting! I use iMessages and whatsApp, but can't figure out Signal for the love of universe, I also use Xmpp, when it works, we're strongly hoping for element client fixes, so it becomes useable, but that's super slow. Time to figure out Signal, maybe? What upset me was that they use a QR code if you want to link to a computer, and not everyone has access to a working screen, so, meh to them for that. I don't know how they are more secure vs Apple, but that's just me, Signal is a company too, after all. Pretty sure whatsApp feeds my messages to its Meta AI, but it's a speculation, and I won't be surprised if it is actual truth, knowing Meta's reputation and all that...

I used to work for large retailers who operated like this. The software would go in and would never get changed in 10 plus years unless there was a funded project to upgrade/change it etc. Aside from the security/support concerns, this ended up with a lot of unofficial staff workarounds that compounded over time which could have been fixed with an update or in some cases was provided in a later version of the software. I see this paradigm as a bit of a panacea.

Let's start a war! Tabs or spaces?

For the record, the correct answer IMO is tabs. They're a single byte, can be changed to view the reading preferences of any sighted user, and were literally built for indents. But many disagree with me, I know.

  • Tabs, obviously (50%, 4 votes)
  • Spaces, you wackjob (37%, 3 votes)
  • I do not care, let me see the results (12%, 1 vote)

@jscholes I see absolutely no conveniences whatsoever for speech users. Braille users, I could definitely make a case for. Especially multiline displays. But for me, it's nothing but confusing and inconvenient. More so for reading than writing. I assumed that was because of using speech rather than braille, but clearly everyone else finds it much more convenient than I do, which makes me think I must be reading code very wrongly.

#DisabledSocial #fediblock Concerning the harasser JimmyTruth:

1. We can block the IP address of him to stop him from signing up here, but we cannot stop him from chosing any server and signing up there. Mods in other servers need to do that.
2. We have a script running to suspend ASAP. This relies on assistance from other servers to update the shared spreadsheet.

Mastodon's coding doesn't have reliable antispam measures that fit this sceneraio. Other servers don't have better spam measures.

One of my posts here gained popularity in the #Flathub vs. traditional #Linux distributions debate and I still stand by my claim that @flathub enforces its rules more strictly than Linux distributions and checks maintainers more thoroughly. None of my #Fedora packages have ever been held for review after being accepted into the repositories.
Even though it's a complication for me as a maintainer, I approve it.
