A blind couple who were travelling with their baby and trying to get back to their home in Iceland after a holiday in Greece were stopped from boarding two separate flights and stranded for a week because they didn’t have a sighted escort with them.
Issues like this are becoming more regular. A woman in Adelaide was refused a drink at her 5 Star hotel because she did not have a sighted assistance person. This is beyond stupid. As an experienced blind airline passenger both with and without assistance, I have always notified the airline that i was blind and only needed assistance from the Gate to my seat. Never had a problem. So I am unsure why an increasing number of airline staff are putting barriers out there.

in a way, that naïve optimism is what led to the privacy problems. After all, passwords were originally only uuencoded (a plaintext cipher) and there was no session management. The botched attempt at session management by Netscape gave us cookies. But, a more complex Web might never have succeeded at all.

I understand. It is the startup hooks I've got my doubts about. It could allow anyone with enough permissions on a server to inject code for any doubtfull purpose. Maybe I'm missing something, but the article sure made me think so.
