Okay, fine. I caved. I Preordered an iPhone 17 Pro today. I have never been less excited about ordering a phone. I will never stop being bitter that i can't get a small iPhone anymore. I decided on the pro over the 17 because of the slightly larger battery and I figured the fancy camera might be helpful for Aira, Be My Eyes and all the other blindy related stuff I do with the camera. By the time I got in, the delivery date was Sep. 25 so I have a couple weeks to try to get happy about my big ass phone.
You're not going to be happy about it until it's in your hands, then after about three hours, max three days, it just becomes the new norm. That's just how it is. We get used to it. Even more so given that you spent your money on it, so you force yourself to like it and eventually, it's not even forced, it just is what it is.
I also settled on a Pro line. I find it's a good compromise of battery life and the phone size... Max would be fine but it's not always a good fit for my wear! :)

Spending time with my in their 70s parents and they're very successfully managing not to be racist or transphobic so I still don't buy the "They're a product of their age" argument
mine too, they were Catholic farmers but to be honesty they literally never said a word about any other race or culture, ever, period. So I don't know what was in their heads or their hearts because they never discussed the topic at all. Or politics.

What I often find such an interesting take in #accessibility discussions is this concept of "We will make it work for the majority first, and then add accessibility features". This shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how accessibility, and therefore " features" of accessibility work. For one, making something #accessible for #screenReaders often requires no visual modifications at all, and requires making calls early in the development cycle to not have to rewrite your entire UI using widgets that even support #assistive #technology. Once that call has been made, making elements accessible is often a matter of, what a concept, using the widgets the way they were meant to be used.
