Finding jazz in J-pop: Patrick Bartleyโs musical second language
The J-Music Ensemble leader translates Japanese culture into a classic American musical tradition.Ryne Hisada (The Japan Times)
Dear fedi, I'm looking for a needle in a haystack, but maybe you can help.
I'm looking for a song, roughly jazz with female vocals, sung by a Finnish goup or vocalist, with lyrics in English. The parts of the lyrics I remember say something like "we could be inside each other for a hwile."
Any guesses gratefully received.

This past week, 99 years ago, Miles Dewey Davis III was born in Alton, Illinois.
On November 12, 1989, on 60 Minutes, Harry Reasoner asked him if Black musicians were better at jazz and blues because of slavery. The question couldโve gone sideways.
What Davis saidโquietly, preciselyโwas about rhythm, memory, race, and the meaning of swing. #music #Jazz #Histodons #history #blackmastodon #photography #blackandwhite

๐จ New Video Alert! ๐จ
I had an absolute blast filming my first-ever video with Pianote! ๐ They threw a challenge my wayโI had to learn a song on the spot and create my own arrangement. No spoilers, but letโs just say it was a ride! ๐น๐ฅ
For all my blind and visually impaired friends, we made sure to include audio description of any text that appears on screen, so everyone can fully experience the video. Big thanks to the Pianote team for making this happen!

Today in 1959 Dave Brubeck quartet released their single "Take Five". It's one of the Jazz standards today, was used in several movie sound tracks and still receives a significant radio airtime.
The song was not written by Dave Brubeck as many believe but by Paul Desmond (on saxophon).
