If you have a #Dell laptop whose function keys act normally but whose Home and End keys do not, apparently the fix is the following.
* Restart your machine and at the Dell logo, repeatedly tap the F2 to get into BIOS.
* Look for POST Behaviour.
* FN Lock: Ensure this setting is Enabled.
* Make sure Lock Mode Secondary is selected.
Now I just have to find a sighted person to do this for me, because in 2025, BIOS is still inaccessible.

in reply to Chris Smart • • •I remember when you could just press FN scroll lock, I think it was, on old IBM Thinkpads before they were Lenovo.
I also remember Toshiba's really cool Windows utility for changing pretty much everything in the bios accessibly, at least as long as you could boot windows.
I also also remember the days of being able to dump the text of bios screens to the parallel port and reading it with stuff.
Yep, we've made *so much progress in the last few decades.
