LibreOffice reshared this.

@eudaimon
Line composers are used in programmes that are intended for printing on A4, Legal or Letter:

If the end of a line is reached and you continue typing, the now full line is finalised - and remains so if you do not change anything in it (or in an earlier line of the same paragraph).

Paragraph composers always look at entire paragraphs and adjust the lines they contain as evenly as possible:

Less saccade disruption, better reading rhythm, so more intense immersion. 😊

@khzimmer2 @eudaimon You could submit it as an enhancement request on bugs.documentfoundation.org – But of course, we're a volunteer-driven project with very limited resources. To get a new feature more quickly, you can consider helping our volunteers, or funding a developer. Thank you ☺️👍

@eudaimon

I've been wondering for ages whether I should do it.

This would probably be preceded by a lengthy discussion, as the layouting would not only change, but also the good old "user experience":

If I stand with the cursor in the middle of a paragraph and change it, the cursor would 'jump' together with the text (which is wrapped in a flash as I type).

:)

WYSIWYG hard at the limit!

Need for discussion galore! 😇
