Like we’re seeing in Schleswig-Holstein, Denmark and many other government bodies and organisations, the Austrian military (Bundesheer) has migrated 16,000 PCs from Microsoft Office to LibreOffice.
Many more need to do it in droves. Ridiculous to be paying a subscription for apps most people rarely use except to update their resume maybe once in a blue moon; and a student don’t need it either just to write essays and school reports.
Amazing seeing more orgs move over to LibreOffice, Amazing seeing full military sectors moving over as well. Most likely saved so much money per year as well.
Good for them !! Up here 🇨🇦 almost everything used is prorpietary Windows software. Although I have seen various moves to some open source software (Experimental) and some moves to Linux (Experimental).
Independent fromme fromme this or intially, a good start for institutions still hanging in MS365 or so can start with LibreOffice free file formats, so that there is an overall interoperability in data exchange.
Thats mainly replacements for Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
