I started a little python project to take my ~20 years of #Flickr photos, categorize them and analyze the content using #ollama locally. So far the results are pretty good. Some hallucinations, but mostly useful content.

I'd be interested in knowing if others have tried this. What information has been useful to collect? Face identification is a big area my tool needs some work on. I want to group family/friends.

Going thru the stands at fosdem ran into immich.app as a photographier I was interested so asked a few questions :
- what's your biz model?
- none yet, but probably hosted services
- how do you compare to #flickr or #pixelfed?
- pixelwhat? We are providing a replacement photo - no direct answer for flickr
- do you support activitypub?
- actiwhat?
- do you run on any OS?
- of course we do, we provide docker images

Last year, #Flickr said they are studying it. We haven't heard any updates since.

I would suggest using #Pixelfed for your photos since you can upload more than 4 images through it. Or, any other Fediverse software; avoid Mastodon when it comes to images/gallery: (1) you can only upload max 4 images; and (2) anything beyond 4 attachments, Mastodon sends it to the blackhole. It's not a bug, it's by-design, still, it should be “fixed”.
