In general, asking AI chatbots about Doctor Who books is a horrible experience. Not sure why. #DoctorWho

I know people are probably bored of ChatGPT mistakes - but its knowledge of #DoctorWho is impressively bad!

I asked it which Oscar Winners had appeared in Doctor Who.

The first two are bang on. Number 3… eh! I'll take it.

But then it gets worse (cont.)

Totally Tasteless - the biography of JNT that I used for my Black Archive on Greatest Show in the Galaxy, is having a reprint: tenacrefilms.bigcartel.com/pro… Highly recommended for a balanced take on JNT, his life and career. #DoctorWho

Today is the birthday of #DoctorWho actors Anthony Ainley, Sylvester McCoy, and Sophie Aldred. As it's also *my* birthday, a few years ago, I commissioned this artwork and then mocked up a book cover for a theoretical August 20th adventure!

Notes from Nerdsville.

Since I started watching all the classic Doctor Who espisodes in order, I've come to appreciate the quiet horror of the first Cybermen.

With minimal paraphernalia, and face coverings like bandages, they're easily the most creepy, evoking the sort of body horror their increasingly shiny descendants have lost. The weird, elongated pronunciation adds to the effect.

Bill Potts transforms into one of these monsters in The Doctor Fails.

Remembering Jon Pertwee, the brilliant Third Doctor, on his birthday. The 3rd Doctor's stories and his time with UNIT was one of my favourite eras of classic WHO! #DoctorWho

"Claws of Axos" is actually the DW novel I'm currently reading; it's in an audio collection of novels involving the Master, this one being narrated by Richard Franklin. #DoctorWho

Axos calling Earth, Axos calling Earth... " Chilling out this evening watching Doctor Who The Claws of Axos (1971). Classic 70's Who at its best, and still one of my favourite 3rd Doctor & Jo Grant adventures featuring the Master and UNIT. #DoctorWho

So the #BBC finally commented on ratings for the show - and they consider it a success! 😄

I'm sad to learn of the passing of William Russell, who played schoolteacher Ian Chesterton in the first two seasons of #DoctorWho. It was great that he made a cameo in the series in 2022. I just finished "Susan's War" from Big Finish where he teamed up with Carole Ann Ford and he was in great form. May he rest in peace and may our Lord have mercy on his soul. Mr. Russell was 99 years old.

I absolutely agree with your comments about the Timeless Child. It helped to explain some references in the classic series and I agree that it only added more mystery to the Doctor. I'd love to see a spin-off series about this either in audio or in book format. #DoctorWho

At first I was trepidous about RTD's return (I still am to some extent) but this has given me some confidence. Rather than dismissing the Timeless Child, he is using it as a jumping off point for the new series

Many argued that the TC had taken the mystery away, but for me it added a whole new layer. Now he truly doesn't know who he is, where he comes from or how many lives he has had, and I hope this story is explored further in the years to come

I sure wish they'd release these trailers with audio description. #DoctorWho

The Dalek voices in "Resurrection" are my favorites in classic DW. #DoctorWho

"Caves" is one of my favorite DW stories. It's one of those stories with a lot going on that would be interesting even without the Doctor and Peri. I'd love to see an Androzani spin-off series. Btw, if you like that type of story I recommend the audio story "Exotron" from Big Finish. Its music and sound layering is remarkably like a fifth Doctor adventure and it also has an interesting plot. Nicola Bryant does Peri so well that you'll think you were listening to a soundtrack of a lost fifth Doctor story. It's a three-parter; the one-part story that follows it is interesting but I didn't care for it. #DoctorWho

#DoctorWho serial “The Caves of Androzani” was brilliant. I absolutely loved it. Great writing from Robert Holmes, great atmosphere, pacing & performances, great direction from Graeme Harper, and Peter Davison is on top form here. I’m sad it’s his final serial. Time for Dr no. 6.

Remembering the late Mary Tamm (22 March 1950 – 26 July 2012)), who played the first incarnation of Romana. #DoctorWho

What's remarkable is that he can still sound like K9 just as he did in the '70s. Affirmative. #DoctorWho

Wishing a happy birthday to John Leeson, who voiced the Doctor's faithful robotic canine companion, K9! #DoctorWho

@cachondo Well, if I'm interpreting this correctly BBC iPlayer should be getting it at the same time as Disney Plus here in the States. It's only the folks dependent on BBC 1 who will have to wait until later in the day. If I'm wrong I hope that another Whovian will set me straight. #DoctorWho

I'm glad to see we're getting more #DoctorWho books this year but I do wish the BBC hadn't stopped their full-length past Doctor novels. I'm intrigued by "the Adventures Before" and am looking forward to reading that but when I first read the title I was hoping it was a new series about the timeless child.

What if Flux had been just an ordinary series of #DoctorWho? And would there be as much mystique around the early years if the missing episodes had never been missing? Two conversations for the price of one, in another edition of What If:
