“Socks, lies, and accessibility”
https://janmaarten.com/gaad-2023/

Where @janmaarten shows that just a couple days after #accessiBe’s CEO promised to stop being such a lying liarface it went and used sock puppet Twitter accounts to promote its #overlay.

As I keep saying, past behavior is a predictor of future behavior (side-eyes #AudioEye, #UserWay, #FACILiti).

#AudioEye has a blog post where its CAO talks about “trust, transparency, collaboration, and innovation.”

Which is code for rebranding its #overlay product without issuing refunds for its prior guarantees.

Anyway, I offer my thoughts in a bit more detail as a comment on the post that got me sued:

Let’s remember #AudioEye is a bully:
https://adrianroselli.com/2022/04/my-cease-desist-from-audioeye.html

Its #overlay (still) does not work:
https://adrianroselli.com/2023/02/audioeye-will-get-you-sued.html

It SLAPPs critics (I am not the only one):
https://adrianroselli.com/2023/05/audioeye-is-suing-me.html

…and in the end harms users and #accessibility industry as a whole:

Throwing investor money at a clear PR ploy is not a fix (didn’t help #accessiBe). If anything, it highlights the scam.

Reputation washing works both ways. I feel bad for its new CAO who likely had good intentions.

#AudioEye Taps #Accessibility Industry Veteran Mike Paciello as Chief Accessibility Officer, or, as one person in the a11y Slack community (not me) put it: "Renowned Lung Cancer Specialist Joins Tobacco Company": https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/audioeye-taps-accessibility-industry-veteran-mike-paciello-as-chief-accessibility-officer-302048832.html

AudioEye Has Dropped Its Suit Against Me

When someone offers you evidence-based criticism, do you:

A. Respond by making changes/improvements
B. Throw a tantrum and sue your critic

#AudioEye chose B and is suing @aardrian
https://adrianroselli.com/2023/05/audioeye-is-suing-me.html

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? #accessibility

An accessibility overlay vendor (#AudioEye) is suing @aardrian, an accessibility specialist, in the United States of America.

I've already shared this story before. The news is that his attorney has filed a motion to dismiss under New York’s anti-SLAPP (strategic lawsuit against public participation) law (what doesn't really exist in France).

Quick reminder that AudioEye is a member of the IAAP (International Association of Accessibility Professionals)… If this makes you feel bad, it's normal.

Search Engine Land (guest/paying author) is pretty clear that you should not use accessibility overlays (such as #accessiBe, #UserWay, #AudioEye, etc):

“Are you using an accessibility overlay to help disabled users? Don’t!”
