The 'gari' (狩り) in 'momijigari' (紅葉狩り) originally referred to the capturing of wild animals and birds, but over time also came to mean 'harvesting', 'gathering' or 'picking' plants.
Another example of this is 'kudamono-gari' (果物狩り), which means to gather fruit.

Langsam aber sicher schlängelt sich das Wasser in vielen kleinen Kaskaden den Berg hinunter. Bemooste Steine brechen den Strom immer wieder auf und bilden Stufe für Stufe. Auf manchen sammelt sich sogar Herbstlaub, welches sich fotogen in den Vordergrund legt. Für mich ist das immer ein Bild wert. Dazu ein Stuhl und Kaffe, samt angenehmem Rauschen im Ohr.
