Two things I need to find: A new Matrix homeserver (currently on matrix.org) and a good Lemmy instance...

I mean, I could selfhost both of them, but I think that would blow up my available resources...

Edit: I don't want ANY finacial offers. I am here to seek advise, to get into a discussion if an instance is actually fitting. If I would want to a "private" instance, I will do it by myself!

I wrote a bot that parses the current #Mastodon instances and assigns them to the respective #ASN (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASN).

Interesting is the concentration on a few top ASN. Here for example the 10 most frequent ASNs as Pie Chart (as of 11/25/2022).

@gargron An arbitrary cap seems, well, arbitrary, but I would like to think there's some kind of strategy for avoiding the #LongTail trap. One #Fediverse health check that might be useful is an ongoing #bot-conducted #survey and periodic reports of the #distribution of #instance headcount.
