@hughsie you'll see that I like generating a CSV file with the script that I then let gnuplot render the image from. It makes them two distinct steps that are easy to debug and work on separately.

LA Times owner seems to be in league with Trump, vetoing a Harris endorsement and then letting the campaign use standard-issue lies to smear the paper for something it didn't do.

The editorial page editor quit in protest and she deserves our respect.

She has more courage than the vast majority of our political press corps, which still normalizes Trump and will be culpable if he -- and then Vance -- become America's fascist rulers.

@LeonianUniverse You might be interested to know that you can play Miriani on the Mac. There is, in fact, a Tintin Miriani soundpack. Have fun.
in reply to Haily Merry

@arqeria @fireborn @gocu54 I don't own a Mac so I technically have no dog in this race. But I thought it'd be cool for my brother who does have one to be able to play muds. I wonder if it is as intuitive on Mac though.
in reply to Rook

@arqeria @fireborn @gocu54 It isn't all the way, I got the pack to work, but my thing is is that is not easy to look at the output window if you need to. Also, TDSR is not VO, so commands like ctrl to stop speech don't work, and it’s not the easiest thing to navigate. That being said, I am still having a great experience with it on the mac regardless.
in reply to LeonianUniverse

@arqeria @gocu54 backspace is teh way to interrupt space, escape also works too. To review the output window, alt u and alt o to go by line. turn off cursor tracking if things are scrolling and you need to read back.
in reply to LeonianUniverse

@arqeria @gocu54 this being said, I've been working on a screen reading solution built in to the pack itself that should, hopefully, make this less of an issue. That is, if you're using the pack I'm working on :d

@fireborn It was actually you who showed it to me. I'm still angry. :D

We moved the Firefox Translations engineering channels from private Slack to a public Matrix channel, and it feels like a breath of fresh air. The project was a bit more closed in its infancy, but now that we are on a good track, everything is defaulting to much more open. This makes me happy.

I love how he emphasizes that while accessibility is a vast space, we can start small and learn from the assistive technologies already built into our devices!

@yuki2501 Blaster Master. Boy's pet frog escapes, so he goes to the backyard and finds a huge hole that leads to a nuclear waste dump. Frog goes in, boy chases after. At the bottom there's a nuclear powered titanium tank that the boy boards to go on an underground adventure. The final boss whips you.

Hi. Uber is looking for people to be a part of a pilot study from October 28 through December 6. If you ride with a service animal and you wanna participate, you take rides and report in on how your rides are impacted by disclosing that you have a service animal. They will give gift cards and compensation at the end amounting to $270 to compensate people for the price of the rights they took. Here's a survey that you can fill out as a first step to qualifying for participation. SurveyMonkey Powered Online Survey uber.surveymonkey.com/r/7MQ9H7…

I just tried the hearing test feature of the AirPods Pro two that is available in the United States with iOS 18.1.
As expected, my hearing loss is too severe, and it will not enable hearing assistance. It claims moderate loss in the left ear, severe in the right.
Many of the tones exist in the frequency spectrum where my tinnitus is especially bad in the right ear, so I’m not surprised.
this being said, the test UX is very good and straightforward.
in reply to Patrick Perdue

I just did it as well. Really well done and easy to follow. I assume you can take it as many times as you want…

A big shout out to everyone at #A11yCamp yesterday. Sean spent a very informative day there leaning and networking on all the latest in #A11y / #Accessibility!

As noted on the banner in the first photo, A11y Camp is Australia's premier conference on digital accessibility and inclusion.

@mvgorcum I love KDE connect but for some reason it doesn't work for me a lot of times.
I made sure I'm using it correctly: same network, updated to stable, turn off content blockers. Yet most of the time, my Win10 laptop & mostly vanilla Android phone can't see each other.
in reply to mesakeith

@mk_rexx I don't run windows, so I'm afraid I can't be of much help there. Maybe you can try bluetooth? If I recall correctly kdeconnect can also run over bluetooth.

Why did the art thief get caught while trying to get away from the museum?

Because he had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh.

in reply to Funny Jokes

@jaybird110127 One of the puns doesn't quite land if you read that joke with eSpeak, because it pronounces Degas as "day gah".
in reply to Matt Campbell

@jaybird110127 Oh, I guess Eloquence pronounces Degas the same way. So the joke probably depends on a mispronunciation of Degas.

Do not seize the day. This will startle the day and may cause it to become aggressive and give you a nasty bite.

Instead approach the day calmly without making eye contact, pet it gently, and slowly enfold it in a careful embrace.

If the day shows any signs of resistance to being engaged with, it is likely to turn on you. Back off and return to bed.

The social value of rustfmt and the default Rust style is absolutely incredible. I saw someone the other day talking about the annoyance of having people reformat other people's code in a PR and do so differently/inconsistently. And I had this reaction of "...oh, yeah, that used to be a thing that came up". Huge appreciation for the #rustlang rustfmt team for all their work.

Time to stop dealing with other people's bullshit for a little while, and write some code.

I'm looking for an accessible calendar app that will allow me to build and organize schedules. As part of my graduate program, I have to develop a case load schedule as if I were a TVI visiting students in schools. I have to develop a month-long schedule, and I thought Excel would be good for that, but it's hard building a calendar and having to add multiple events per day. If anyone can recommend a great way to build and export an accessible calendar, I'd greatly appreciate that. Thanks so much.
in reply to Melissa Roe

ah. Outlook lets you copy and paste calendar items into CSV if you view it as a list, but everything else exports is ical unfortunately.
in reply to Sean Randall

I mean, unfortunately for your use case. ical has been around for 25 years. CSV sa a visual format for events seems a bit of an oadd duck
