⚡ Watch out: #Microsoft joins #Google & #Facebook with its focus on ads first. ⚡

When creating a test account, #Outlook informed us of 813 data sharing partners! 🫢

Plus, the "new" Outlook app is quietly storing your data in the cloud, including your passwords.

I would use #Outlook only in a business context. Then it's corporate data, and the company can decide to share it with #Microsoft or not. Having 813 "partners" which use your private data while you use Outlook for your private emails, sounds like a #privacy nightmare.

@dans_root Our concern is that there are likely folks who just decide to use the same email provider that they see at work, which is likely Outlook, at home for their personal address.

You are right, I was doing that myself years ago before Microsoft went into the cloud with their "Home Use Program" (HUP). It's good to inform and warn people, but we'll also have to accept that many people just don't care about #privacy.

problem is people and even businesses don't seem to care at all

Hahaha I am not at all worried about Microsoft. They always find a way to screw it up.

best to stay away from all of the GAFAM companies: Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft. They are all dangerous due to their size and their monopoly positions in different areas. We really need to reduce their power in the world. The issue is much bigger than ads, it's about power and control. Those companies are a threat to any kind of free society.
