Just talking about audio chat, I recently tried out #Audon, which is a web-based audio chat for mastodon and fedi accounts. You can try it on audon.space/

The #a11y is not perfect, but it can be used. First time you use it you need to authorise it with your fedi account. After that, if you're the host of a room, you need to authorise people coming in. If you just want to join a room the host should give you the link, which you can get from the address bar, and that's it.

I don't know who is hosting it, though the code is available for anyone to self-host if they wish. You can get it from here: codeberg.org/namekuji/audon

I am following the Hashtag for a while and unfortunately, Your post is one of the last ones in my list. Is the Service down or does just nobody know of it? I really would like to talk to more Mastodonians using it.

I think there aren't many people using it, which is a pity. I guess we could try to promote it a bit, see if it gets more uptake. I suspect a lot of people might use it if they knew it existed.

Hi there, fedi,

Did you know you can use your fedi account to #voice #chat with followers or other fedizens? The software is called #audon (for #audio on #mastodon I guess) and works pretty well.

And if you're the sort of fedi person who likes DIY and self-hosting, the project is free software so you can do that, too. Give it a shot, if voice is something that interests you at all.

Yay I think it's more or less the same idea. Kind of a pity that it's not in development, because some more features would be nice, but it's pretty well-done as it is imo.

Yay, it's a pity dev has stalled. There are a couple of things that would be good to add/change, for example improving the handling of the accessibility of the choice to invite everyone or only followers, or ways for the admin to mute, maybe these exist but are not accessibly exposed.
