I'm on the night train from Kolari to Helsinki, returning from a work gig. This is the longest distance direct train trip in Finland, covering most of the country. It lasts around 11+ hours with around 900km distance.

I've always wanted to take one of these trains, as most of the train is sleeper cabins. Check out mine!

For all the #train enthusiasts out there: mapcomplete.org/historic_rolli… shows a map of historical locomotives and other rolling stock that are permanently placed somewhere - e.g. monuments, in a museum or just abandoned.

mapcomplete.org/historic_aircr… is a similar map showing #aircraft , interlinking with #wikidata for the models.

Beware: they are dangerous: they are quite addictive to get everything right...

Remember the Polish train hackers? The guys who identified why trains being serviced by an independent, licensed train servicing center, "randomly" started failing? And identified the root cause, namely geofencing and/or time-related triggers?

tbf, I'm sure the wheelchair user just had to go a bit faster and this wouldn't have happened. But hey, nice to see we're finally making some progress on this stuff!)
