In the last few months I've decided I want to make more effort on meeting people with interests like me so I don't feel completely alone and isolated when I get excited while reverse engineering a game or explore some cool tech.
I was thinking maybe to partecipate to the next #fosdem, looking for cool talks and maybe meeting people. Could be a good idea? I don't know what to expect.

Hello #FOSDEM crowd. If you know someone attending 2026 who creates some form of an #openart - under a free license, let them know that there could be a small community gathering for them. Theater producers, visual artists, actors, musicians, painters, photographers and more and more are welcomed.
We'll be sharing a stand with @shiftphones and @BlissLabs, showing just what a great experience our little corner of #Android can be.
Repairable devices, a FOSS #AOSP ROM and an "app store" (or repository if you prefer) for all the privacy and user respecting apps you could want to run on it :)
Of course the teamwork doesn't end there, we'll love to tell you more at the stand :)

FOSDEM will take place in Brussels between 2026-01-31 and 2026-02-01—it is the largest European conference on free and open-source software and the admission is free (as in beer).
Just like last year's FOSDEM, we will be running a stand, exchanging stickers and having delightful conversations. If you find anyone wearing a badge of either project's logo, feel free to say hi. :D
Last year the Geospatial devroom only had half a day at FOSDEM, and we still ended up with a packed room and a queue down the corridor.
This year we have the whole of Saturday to ourselves, so if you have something geo-flavoured to share, whether it is maps, data, tools, clever hacks, fieldwork tech, city projects, OSM magic, climate work or anything else, now is the moment to submit a proposal.

I'm curious: you characterize the EU #CRA as requiring #SBOM's *specifically*. I know the License Compliance Industrial Complex wants it to be true, but I researched this issue for my #FOSDEM 2025 talk… fosdem.org/2025/schedule/event… … & IIUC CRA *doesn't* specify SBOMs specifically. IMO, if the vendor gives the customer complete, Corresponding Source & a 100% @reproducible_builds they've complied with CRA. No one has shown me anything that disproves that.

The ecosystem is moving ... away from corporate centralization and mindsets. Billionaires are out, federated and multi-player systems are in, if we gather the many chats, gossips and happenings around #fosdem correctly. Dispersing ourselves around Bruxelles the last couple of days was very enjoyable (thanks Sun!) and helpful to orient in convivial directions in this otherwise extraordinarily stupid 2025 timeline ... thanks to the many people we enjoyed conversations and hang outs with! ❤️
