The Description-Rich Story Hour at Lee Lifeson Art Park was a big success! Thank you to artists Shak Gobert, Trina Moyan, olivia shortt and to Lindsay Walker and Shak for their work on the tactile map enjoyed by Blind and low vision community.

I think it's really cool that Black American Sign Language is in some ways more conservative than the kind of #ASL you learn at Gallaudet University.

Other ASL varieties use a lot of handshapes influenced by English spelling. But black ASL has kept more of the original handshapes, because black #deaf schools didn't get hit so hard by the oralist reformers who made war on ASL.

So, Rekka and I devised hand gestures for each one of the #uxn operations.

In includes a hexadecimal finger-counting scheme, and bitwise gestures, that we hope will be useful for anyone familiarizing themselves with binary.

The system uses a few existing #asl gestures, and purposefully creates new gestures to disambiguate others.
