My dad, who is constantly bored, is a talented home improvement hobbyist craftsman. Can fix up pretty much anything. He has #ADHD, keeps asking me to remind him to do stuff, he keeps not doing it, months pass.

I've now set up a cron job that calls a homemade Python script (that I'd update over SFTP) to put one task in front of him at all times on his #GNOME computer, using this #GNOMEShell extension:
extensions.gnome.org/extension…

I don't know whether that makes me a chaotic good or lawful evil son.

That's why we're very fortunate that #gnome recently got funding from the #SovereignTechFund. One of the sponsored projects is to implement GL robustness in #gnomeshell / Mutter, so if the driver stumbles when trying to import some unusual buffer you won't lose your session.

Regarding the future of video playback in #gnome I'd like to add some more context around current developments in #gnomeshell, #gtk4 and #Wayland in a short 🧵

TL;DR: by making use of more modern hardware features we're finally in the position to catch up to other platforms with regards to energy efficiency. So let's do it!

Last November I tooted about getting ready for the first release of #temperantia, the project I've been working on for the last couple of years, which include #GTK3 & #GNOMEShell themes, an icon theme, some color schemes, and wallpapers. Since then I've literally worked day and night, but it's still not finished. I've felt so much shame and embarrassment about this, and what better way to expel such emotional states than to publish my final TODOs. Because now it's happening for real.
