In case you missed it over the weekend, I needed to get this out of my system because Canadian cities are stuck in a toxic cycle.

Feedback submitted to Caltrain:

"Hi there, I just tried to get on train 424, which stopped at San Antonio around 6:35 pm. I was on the station rushing to the blue zone at the opposite end of the platform. It was very difficult to go over the bumpy stamped concrete. No conductor came out to meet me, and the train left without me. I'm quite surprised by this, as the conductors are usually very attentive. If I had been able to walk, I would have been able get on the train, but this time, I felt excluded based on my wheelchair. Is there anything you can do to make this better?"

Holy cow, #Transitous-based #publictransit routing has just landed in the nightly version of #GNOMEMaps, and therefore the number of cities you can get transit directions in… has gone waaaay up! It can even route through a mess like Los Angeles' multiple transit authorities, or calculate long-distance trains! :blobaww:

Big props to @mlundblad for implementing this: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-m…

This video got me VERY excited about the prospect of a transit app that focuses on providing accessibility info! The link to Joel’s project on indiegogo is here: indiegogo.com/projects/transit…

On this #TransDayOfVisiblity, I want to specifically highlight Bernie Wagenblast.

She is one of the famous announcer voices for New York City's Metropolitan Transit Authority! (See video for demonstration)

From her wikipedia page: Bernie Wagenblast is a transportation journalist, radio personality and voice-over artist. She is the founder and editor of the Transportation Communications Newsletter. She also edits The AASHTO Daily Transportation Update, published by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and hosts AASHTO's ETAP Podcast and the ITE Talks Transportation podcast for the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

On Sol 1037 (three days ago) the Perseverance rover observerved this transit of Mars' smallest moon Deimos.
This timelapse was made from 177 Left Mastcam-Z images and shows the event at 10x speed.

Since I saw some of you enjoyed yesterday's photo of the ISS transiting our full moon, I thought I'd post some more details: This kind of transit is quite rare, but can be observed almost anywhere with some patience and planning. The ISS is about 400km above earth, and it circles around our planet 16 times a day - so it's faaaaast! The transit of the moon takes less than 1 second, so timing is everything. Here's a video... #iss #spacestation #transit #fullmoon #photography #astrophotography

Cars take up unnecessary space when they are moving too!
In a cruel reflection of the class hierarchies we've created for society we prioritise space in our roads for the single most inefficient users. Effectively devoting a limited resource (#transit capacity) in who uses it in the most wasteful way possible, a privilege of owning a car. We struggle with city councils to get scraps of sometimes temporary space for buses or bikes.
And yet this space is not enough. It will never be enough.
