On this #TransDayOfVisiblity, I want to specifically highlight Bernie Wagenblast.

She is one of the famous announcer voices for New York City's Metropolitan Transit Authority! (See video for demonstration)

From her wikipedia page: Bernie Wagenblast is a transportation journalist, radio personality and voice-over artist. She is the founder and editor of the Transportation Communications Newsletter. She also edits The AASHTO Daily Transportation Update, published by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and hosts AASHTO's ETAP Podcast and the ITE Talks Transportation podcast for the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

Trans folks putting the 'trans' in public transit!

Since I saw some of you enjoyed yesterday's photo of the ISS transiting our full moon, I thought I'd post some more details: This kind of transit is quite rare, but can be observed almost anywhere with some patience and planning. The ISS is about 400km above earth, and it circles around our planet 16 times a day - so it's faaaaast! The transit of the moon takes less than 1 second, so timing is everything. Here's a video... #iss #spacestation #transit #fullmoon #photography #astrophotography

Cars take up unnecessary space when they are moving too!
In a cruel reflection of the class hierarchies we've created for society we prioritise space in our roads for the single most inefficient users. Effectively devoting a limited resource (#transit capacity) in who uses it in the most wasteful way possible, a privilege of owning a car. We struggle with city councils to get scraps of sometimes temporary space for buses or bikes.
And yet this space is not enough. It will never be enough.
