Centuries old European-centric American history debunked by archaeology and advanced genomics

The Pueblo, Pawnee, Comanche and Lakota traditional owners gain confirmation of what they have always being saying, that they'd been using horses centuries earlier than what the Western narrative have claimed.

This is incredibly exciting. Not just this case, but how there’s the potential for history to be rewritten in many other periods of history, provided science is given the opportunity to explore

In Greek mythology, a little owl represents or accompanies Athena and has become known as a symbol of knowledge and wisdom attesting to the staying power of the Olympians. The whispers of Athena's legacy are everywhere.

The symbology of the owl has often inspired my own journey. The ability to see through the darkness of life and find knowledge is a potent totem.

1.2 *million* year old workshop for making cutting tools (hand axes) from obsidian found in Ethiopia. Until now it has been the consensus that making tools from obsidian was rare until the comparatively recent Middle Stone Age (mesolithic).

This was long before modern humans (homo sapiens) emerged, so this was a trained process by one of our ancestor hominins.

Reintroducing myself due to a typo 🙃

Hello, world! Like many recently, I've come to Mastodon by the ~other site~ reaching a juncture that allowed me to imagine alternative venues for online interaction.

My #: I'm an archaeologist with a special interest in landscapes and seascapes. As a day job, I'm a marine geophysicist but I continue to collect and process terrestrial geophysics data for my own research projects. I'm hoping to find other # colleagues out there!
