In the last few months, many people have called on the EU to start supporting open alternatives to US-owned social media sites. The thing is: The EU has been doing that for some time already. It has financed, among others, ActivityPub, Mastodon and PeerTube. For @netzpolitik_feed, we spoke to Michiel Leenaars, who professionally gives out buckets of EU cash to open source projects.

So I was just in #Martinique which part of France & thus part of the #EU.

Saint Pierre and Miquelon is also part of France and is ~25km from Newfoundland.

Given that, joining the #EuropeanUnion seems more possible than when it is an ocean away. Canada should try to join the EU.

There seems to be some hyperbole going on about the EU elections. Some countries had far right gains but other countries had far right collapses, and the overall picture seems to be pretty static.

See the attached diagram of the outgoing EU parliament compared to the incoming EU parliament, with the far right-associated groupings marked.

By 2024, the USB-C port will be mandatory for all portable electronic devices in the EU.

This means that you will soon be able to recharge most of your devices with the same charger, making piling up bundles of cables a thing of the past.

Not only will this make your life easier, but it will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions and e-waste.

We honour the memory of the Fallen for Ukraine.

Every picture on the wall tells a story of bravery and sacrifice.

They lost their lives fighting for our European values.

Let us not forget these faces.
Let us not forget them.

A public consultation by the European Commission has been launched regarding the European Disability Card which seeks to gather the opinion of persons with disabilities, their organizations and other interested stakeholders regarding this new instrument in the making. For as long as I can remember, travelling around the EU as a person with a disability has been a riddle of which benefits and discounts work where and whether a particular institution honours them or not even if I'm not a local. The European Disability Card could change that. You can feel the survey in using the form below, available in all of the 24 EU languages. ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/E… ##Europe #EuropeanUnion #Disability #EU

A yellow kitchen in Dnipro, #Ukraine 🇺🇦 🏠.

Once a symbol of warmth and family, it now stands as a reminder of the devastating effects of Russian imperialism.

One day a little girl celebrated her birthday with her family in this kitchen. The next day, the kitchen and the family are no more, destroyed by Russian imperialism.

This is what Ukraine is standing up against. This is what we are all standing up against.
