IFTF—the Interactive Fiction Technology Foundation—is launching the next round of its microgrant program! #interactivefiction blog.iftechfoundation.org/2024…

Something tells me I might not feel well enough to worktomorrow. At least there’s iOS Frotz to play and hundreds of stories to occupy my time. I haven’t played “counterfeit Monkey” in forever. Fun game for sure, and something that helps to keep my mind occupied on more happy things. I’m learning Inform 7 for a IF project I’m planning, so it’s good to get back into playing again. #InteractiveFiction #TextAdventures

Huh, I was wrong. #Harlowe does support custom macros now. This is going to make my life so much easier.

Reminder to any fellow #interactiveFiction authors planning to enter #IFComp this year: you must submit an intent to enter no later than 1st August. Game files then due 28th August. Everything is running a month earlier this year. Don't leave it too late if you want to enter. Good luck! ifcomp.org #TextAdventure #GameDev #IndieGames #TextGames #IFComp2024

So uh, the Mac has this interactive fiction client, called Spatterlight. And it’s amazingly accessible! Anyone with a Mac should seriously check this out. It even has Voiceover actions!

I'm very honoured that my interactive fiction game Xanthippe's Last Night with Socrates has won in three categories at the IFDB Awards, two for genre and one for programming language:

* Outstanding Historical Game of 2023
* Outstanding Romance Game of 2023
* Outstanding Ink Game of 2023.

We're happy to announce the results of our first #grants cycle!

Four projects were selected by our panel of advisors, and $2400 was disbursed by IFTF to support these projects. We had a range of proposals and the final slate shows great diversity - interpreters, accessibility, history, and sprouting new communities!

We are delighted with the results of this program - thank you all for participating!

This Christmas, I wrote an #interactiveFiction game for my kids. It's my first IF effort, and they seemed to enjoy it! You can play or download "The Grumpy Cricket (And Other Enormous Creatures)" from complete.org/the-grumpy-cricke… or see the blog post at changelog.complete.org/archive… . It's released under the GPL v3.

If you know someone at Microsoft who would be interested in the grand opportunity for #InteractiveFiction preservation that today's merger has—as a side effect!—granted the company, please get in touch with me, @zarfeblong, or another @IFTF person. (I stepped down from IFTF leadership earlier this year, but I'm still active within it.)

Here is Zarf's plea to Microsoft to do the right thing with its newly (if perhaps accidentally) acquired Infocom IP: blog.zarfhome.com/2023/10/micr…

On last reboost, the iOS app version of Lost Treasures of Infocom:

archive.org/details/lost-treas…

The game files are all the usual versions, as far as I know. (I'll check in detail, but they should match the contents of archive.org/details/InfocomCla… .)

The nice part here is the game feelies, maps, and hint files. These are *also* derived from the 1996 CD but may have been updated or reformatted.
