this might be a weird question, but are you always truly genuine with your friends or family, or do you catch yourself saying things that sort of give the impression of connection without really saying anything? or maybe you intend to actually have a conversation, but end up just sort of landing on lines that are sort of aesthetically pleasing without substance? Or maybe you notice people doing that to you sometimes

is there a word for this behavior? are we talking at each other instead of to?

Don't doubt yourself. This shit is hard and takes a lot of practice. It will be easier if you don't beat yourself up when you screw up. One thing that helps me is to literally count to 3 in my head. Usually if I'm about to say something I'll regret, that helps me at least rework the thought so that it doesn't come out as harsh. Anything that temporarily interrupts your ability to respond should work.

I'm glad they took away that award from Claire Obscura for having AI generated assets during development. I hope we maintain our integrity and only give awards to video game companies that abuse their employees with terrible working conditions and mandatory overtime so they can't even be present at their child's birth

IMHO: I spent a couple of hours listening to a bunch of top songs generated by Suno v5, their latest model. Sad to say, but it’s comparable to the average music on Spotify from the last two decades. The key word is average though. The mixing, production, performance, arranging, and songwriting are all passable. Sometimes you notice slight audio artifacts or too many words crammed with awkward phrasing, but people wouldn’t even notice as background music in a random coffee shop or airport. #AI

@vick21 I wonder what the saturation will do to music industry. Digital music production and social media democratized for indie artists, but now AI is democratizing mass production. Anyone with good music taste can do it, and people are already floodding streaming services with AI music. I read about an Uber driver with no music background making a few hundred bucks a month by generating AI tracks. Also some AI generated songs already hit number one on the charts.

Guess what, #Nextcloud? #OneDrive has a "Copy Link" in the file context menu. And guess what? They also open a dialog, like with whom to share, for editing or for viewing, but this dialog is fully accessible. Webbish, yes (I would prefer a native Windows API one), but fully accessible.
And guess what even more? #GoogleDrive also has "Copy Link" in their context menu. Aren't they secure enough? I don't know. But they are *convenient*. And *accessible*.
UPD. this post was inspired by my struggles with sharing Nextcloud links and by this ongoing discussion. TL;DR: The option was there, it worked like a charm, but then it was removed because of "security".

I don't really care much about cerifications of any sort so I can't be sure I'm describing the right one, but I remember when working at a small ISP/datacenter we wanted to get SOC II (??) compliance to please some customer and the process was like this:

Me: what are the requirements?

🤖 We have to document all our processes and procedures

Me: and then what?

🤖: an auditor will verify (by quizzing you in front of a computer screen they don't understand) to prove you're following the documented processes and procedures

Me: okay, but like what do we have to do? How long do we have to retain customer backups, for example?

🤖: there is no requirement. How long are you retaining customer backups?

Me: well we had that failure so right now we only have 6 months

🤖: so document 6 months

Me: can we just say one month? And then we exceed our documented retention by a good margin?

🤖: yes

Me: this is a scam isn't it?

@Bri @MariahL Mine was busted the second I'd asked to be removed from a very toxic conversation and my wish was not respected. That's when I lost all of my cool and became an ass with the whole cookie thing. For the part I played in that, for any anger or whatever I've posted over the last few weeks I'm sorry. Christmas this year holds no weight for me at all and I've found it honestly beyond hard to find any happiness or joy apart from a few good things. This is the second Christmas I am spending physically alone on this college campus and I'm just not taking it well.

6. It is not a holiday tied to any particular religion.

Ich konnte in einem Gespräch mit einer Bekannten gestern mal wieder die Empfehlung für den Schattenspringer von @Fuchskind anbringen. Die Empfehlung wurde mit Freuden aufgenommen und wird vermutlich in dieser Familie zeitnah verbreitet werden. Ich hoffe, ein zurzeit siebenjähriges autistisches Kind wird es mit einigen anderen aus der Familie dadurch in Zukunft leichter haben.

Je to celkem marginální rozdíl. Vzal jsem kalkulačku re.jrc.ec.europa.eu/pvg_tools/, zabodl ji někde doprostřed Maďarska a spočítalo mi to roční výrobu 1 kWp na 1260 kWh. Když jsem to samé udělal u Česka, vyšlo mi 1130 kWh. Mají tam tedy podstatně větší instalovanou kapacitu.
