Ich weiß nicht genau, was ihr damit meint, wenn ihr sagt: „Früher war der CCC weniger politisch“, aber Nazi-Webseiten offline zu nehmen, war auf dem #23C3 auch schon ein Ding.

Der einzige für mich erkennbare Unterschied ist, dass damals im Hackcenter noch mehr gekifft wurde.

since Day 2 on CCCongress i am missing three of these definitively not an IED contraptions, designed to make music and deployed on the towel holders in three toilets, clearly marked with my DECT number and my nickname. If you took them and repurposed them for other shenanigans, i would love to have them back. As of now, i am out roughly 160 euros for replacements and that hurts.

Ich bin auch immer noch total hyped für Gnu Taler. Bargeld ist einfach total unpraktisch, aber die US Zahlungsdienstleister Visa, Mastercard bzw Google und Apple Pay sind aus offensichtlichen Gründen sehr kritisch zu betrachten.

Gnu Taler ist einfach die perfekte Alternative zu beidem. Können wir das bitte in Zukunft auf jedem Chaos Event haben?

Ich durfte meinen ersten eigenen Pixel bei @pixelebbe auf dem #39c3 setzen. Ich bin so glücklich. 🥲

Es klappte direkt im zweiten Anlauf und der Prozess hat hervorragend das unangenehme Gefühle behördlicher passiver Gewalt abgebildet. Der "Beamte" und die "Behörde" haben ihren Job also gut gemacht: keine Unterstützung, warten auf eine Nummer, unverständliche Formulare, dürftiges Leistungsspektrum.

Consider these microSD cards (waves a small anti-static bag around), each of which has a tiny ARM processor - designed by a trans person from the BBC Micro team, if I might go off at a tangent for a moment. Or the battery controller chip on the LiPo pouch protection circuit, which significantly reduces the probability of a thermal excursion. And let's face it, nobody wants a spicy pillow in their lap at 30,000 feet-

This year at #39C3, it felt that the congres was bursting at the seams. Nearly all of the assemblies I know complained about having less room and less tables then requested. The infrastructure review posted numbers e.g. about ~20% more DECT-phone calls, more internet usage then ever, ....

And, by chance, I consulted the wikipedia page about CCC:de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_Co… , which also lists the (approximate) number of visitors: 16K this year and only 14.5K last year. Time to go to #leipzig again?

Aus meiner Sicht ist der #DIday von @marcuwekling eine sehr gute Gelegenheit, das #Fediverse für den Mainstream-Diskurs relevanter zu machen – und damit die Gesellschaft unabhängiger von X, Insta, TikTok etc.

Das ist aber kein Selbstläufer, sondern braucht Aktivismus. Ein sehr wichtiger Hebel sind naheliegenderweise Multiplikator:innen, z.B. Streamer oder Youtuber. Um diese fürs Fediverse zu gewinnen, könnte dedizierte Crowd-Lobby-Arbeit helfen, also z.B. Koordiniert Kommentare schreiben und hochvoten oder das Fediverse in den Commuity-Discord-Servern thematisieren.

Alleine macht das weder Sinn noch Spaß, darum habe ich mal eine Signal Gruppe gegründet. Wer mitmachen will ist herzlich willkommen.

I still find it a bit odd that Udbhav Tiwari and Meredith Whittaker (@Mer__edith) stormed off the stage at #39C3 with ~20 minutes left in their slot without answering any questions. I always think of Chaos events as being among equals, and a Q&A after your presentation is just part of that. But I guess if you are earning close to $1 million a year, you are a bit more equal than others.

I’m wondering if this was prearranged with the organizers and/or the Herold in that session.

This year around, apart from one #chatmail relay setup workshop we didn't do any registered events at congress. Pushing out releases, Illnesses and engagements in various other organizing prevented more public sessions. Next ones will be around #fosdem2026 where also several of us will be around. Cheers!
