Dear @Thunderbird in version 102 you have added spaces toolbar. In version 107 nightly you have added list button on the message list toolbar that can be used to reorder message list columns. Would you consider moving these to the view menu where these make perfect sense in order to make keyboard only users happier? I know you would like to make them easier to discover but discoverability is short term goal and usability is here to stay.

I just read #Tutanota's privacy policy, and honestly, I found it really well-written and understandable – well done!

I read it because I got a notification from them asking me to enable first-party (!) analytics. As a developer myself (c.f. @pixelcodeapps), I understand how valuable analytics and stats can be, so I consented.

Maybe you could explain in more detail what you mean by those “certain user actions” that you want to know more about, @Tutanota?

We understand that email and calendaring can be a vital part of your work day, and just as important to your personal life. We also realize that sometimes you’ll have questions about using Thunderbird.

Just got the update from FDroid. Finally message icons are visible all the time, great! Icons are a bit too rounded for my taste. Also, dark blue theme is highly anticipated by me. Offline mode has many quirks, e.g. attachments cannot be opened, you cannot send messages (which should be put in Sent and send automatically when online is available again). But, in general we are getting there :badabing:

annals of capitalist neopuritanism, continued: this game was banned by Google for this indecent drawing of a female-presenting belly button.

of course the real problem isn't the belly pornography, but the fact that Hook Up: The Game is a melancholic narrative about modern dating life and bullying trauma, from a female PoV, i.e. it's the biggest sexual taboo: female agency. anyone familiar with gatcha games knows that the Google Play Store will happily host games where you undress and squish schoolgirls like "Moe Ninja Girls Sexy School" or "Ariah Fantasy RPG Waifu Gacha" etc. (actual examples.)

so far nothing new, but what's interesting about this case is that the person doing the censorship let the mask down:

> [Play Store helpdesk drone:] Regarding your concern about escalation, I am the highest form of escalation. Next to me is God. Do you wanna see God?

people online are calling this cringe; as for me, it gives me chills. I have a lot of Christianity-related chills these days.

Today the EU Commission presents the worst surveillance mechanism outside of China to the EU Parliament: Mandatory scanning for CSA material. Yet, an analysis of already issued surveillance orders shows that the EU's CSAM scanning will not protect the children.

Need some #PeerTube advice!

The really excellent PeerTube instance tilvids.com now has a bug that stops people on Mastodon etc being able to follow Tilvids accounts:

-Existing follows work fine, but new follows turn into "Follow request sent" messages and don't go through (PT doesn't use requests).

-Messaged Tilvids about this and they rebooted server, but it didn't help.

-Posted on PT Github but no help so far.

Any suggestions for how to fix this?

Boosts appreciated!

Video time! Here's the opening session from our recent LibreOffice Conference 2022: youtube.com/watch?v=TLwC5MX0aL… – Or on PeerTube: peertube.opencloud.lu/w/vwiiC8…

LibreOffice reshared this.

Just attended the inaugural Broadway for Reproductive Rights concert and had a chat with the producer, Caroline Gorland, afterwards about getting them on the fediverse. Instagram – it should come as no surprise – is apparently blocking them from promoting any of their content.

Any suggestions as to which instance would be best for them?

What you call it in the source code is more or less what you get in the assembly, modulo any implementation-specific shenanigans you get into. This means that when it comes to sharing libraries, everybody has to agree and shake hands on exactly the symbols that are in said library.

This is never more clear than on *nix distributions. Only a handful of people stand between each distribution and its horrible collapse. The only reason many of these systems continue to work is because we take these tiny handful of people and put them under computational constraints that’d make Digital Atlas not only shrug, but yeet the sky and heavens into the void. See, these people - the Packagers, Release Managers, and Maintainers for anyone’s given choice of system configuration — have the enviable job of making sure your dynamic libraries match up with the expectations the entire system has for them.

I would say that, fundamentally, no website should ever be able to tell if you have taken a screenshot. Any browser that is giving them that kind of information is failing in its basic duties.
