Btw. both are uploaded to #Debian unstable now. I'm confident, that the new versions will make it into Debian 13 #trixie!

Google has signed a contract with Israel to supply Tech support used in the Palestinian genocide. A US$1.2 billion deal, with Amazon in the mix.
It's not the first time Google has been implicated in this type of crime.

Google obeys the every command of Trump-musk fascism, the Gulf of Mexico is just the one example that makes you laugh.

So when you have google main sponsor of FOSDEM and debian going dancing to GSoC, and many others in the FLOSS and Open movement doing the same,
I say to you straight out:
You're embracing fascism, you're legitimizing genocide, you're part of the problem!

Kudos, and nice timing - with any luck this will get into #Debian trixie.

Can't seem to satisfy some of the PHP library requirements, namely IntlChar, IDN, OpenSSL. I read somewhere that installing openssl covers PHP libraries for same. Is this true? What about IntlChar and OpenSSL? Does php-intl cover IntlChar?

stopped supporting the i386 architecture recently claiming again and again that there's no more new 32bit x86 hardware to buy despite this was never true: vortex86.com/ produces 32-bit only x86 CPUs and SoC for at least a decade now. 😢😠

Hey #linux#debian people: it’s occurring to me that #rclone might not actually be the best way to do what I’m doing. So: if you had two Debian servers on a vpn, both with 1 gig fiber links to the internet, in cities 100 km apart, how would you go about having shared filesystems between them? Right now I am using rclone mount with sftp. Is there a less janky way?

the two worst "footguns" I encountered when setting up #Prosody 0.12.3 in #Debian 12 were - you're not going to like this - enabling TLS, not STARTTLS (ruins upload.sampledomain.com capability), and trying to use SRV records (made an honest attempt, couldn't get it to fly).

These "footguns" wasted two brutally unenjoyable days of my life, until I scaled back these progressive wishes.

In case you missed it: #Debian is no longer posting on Elon’s Twitter/X. I just saw it yesterday

my current little joys besides my family and kids are. Books about #lisp, common lisp itself with #sbcl, #xfce , #linux #debian and old school server side rendered #web sites. And all the web standards there are like html css and js. We have come a long way to have those great tech that lasted so long. I'm really thankful for all those projects and effort that got into it. Please lets make those tools accessible for everyone and simple in design. All that comes after us will have a bad time if we embrace all this complex cloud and build tools to just build simple software. Software is made for humans not mashines. Thanks for listening stay safe enjoy life and the little things and all that is.

#curl stickers are restocked tomorrow in the #debian booth. Get them early before these ones run out as well.

This is how you do it.

More people need to leave too.

The Debian Publicity Team will no longer post on X/Twitter. We took this decision since we feel X doesn't reflect Debian shared values as stated in our social contract, code of conduct and diversity statement. X evolved into a place where people we care about don't feel safe. You are very much invited to follow us on bits.debian.org , on micronews.debian.org/ , or any media as listed on wiki.debian.org/Teams/Publicit… #debian

I hate the way doing large #rclone syncs from slow cloud providers slows my entire #debian machine to a crawl, but because of the way iowait works and how rclone works, I don't think there's a good way around it? Has anyone found anything I missed?

Did I back up whatever the heck I did to get my server to shut down when it switches to UPS after yesterday's #Debian reinstall? No, of course I didn't! Do I remember what I did several years ago? No, of course not! Looks like this afternoon's #linux adventure is all planned out. My brain is mumbling something about upsmon, but it doesn't have any other details to offer.

Even completely headless, command line #linux doesn't prioritize #accessibility in any way. Today I had to reinstall an entire #debian system from scratch because a drive listed in my /etc/fstab died. That makes #systemd boot into emergency mode, where you get no SSH, no network, no sound, and no screen reader. There is no quick way to force it to try and boot even though drive 7 of 11 has died, and it could absolutely bring up SSH and the network to let me fix it if it wanted to, just like sysvinit used to do. You can't even force systemd to add SSH and the network to emergency mode because of circular dependencies. nofail will only continue the boot if the drive doesn't exist, but if the filesystem has issues...emergency mode for you. In short: if your drive dies on Linux, fuck you. Be able to see, or reinstall your entire system, because nobody in Linuxland gives a shit about #a11y or your needs.
