In November last year I talked about #http3 at the oredev conference. The video recording from that is now available:

Someone was asking for this, so figured I'd allow it to resurface. A while ago, I wrote a Hammerspoon that lets you quickly switch between input and output devices on the Mac with global keys, as well as letting you do things like mute/unmute your default input device and list all the devices. github.com/TheQuinbox/audioswi…

[EDIT: It's not explicitly stated, but it can be inferred that Bitwarden is asking about email *providers* and not clients. Thanks for pointing it out! Leaving this post up, though, because it's a solid survey.]

Thunderbird friends! @bitwarden has a short survey asking about your preferred #privacy stack -- but they didn't include Thunderbird in the question about email...

Do us a favor, and when you get to Question 2, click "other" and type in Thunderbird! 💙

Just saw that the Zed code editor (zed.dev/) is now open source. It's written in Rust and has its own GUI toolkit, called GPUI. Doesn't look like they've done any work on accessibility yet. Hopefully they'll see fit to spend time integrating #AccessKit soon.

@gdt without issue, jami is the owner (CLA for contribution, license exception on some dependencies and other not in GPL) so they will not pursue themself.
A problem would be for a fork or if anyone packages Jami for the Appstore without consent, for this there is generally a license exception file in the repo. But in this case Jami packages Jami and dependencies got license exception (e.g. pjproject) or not in GPL. There is a lot of GPL libs used in iOS apps
@gdt

You asked yourself of any side-effects the additional APK-checks at apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid might have? Let me show you one. Not all #apps have that yet, but it will be added one-by-one in the #IzzySoftRepo

When the scanner highlights some sensitive #permissions, they are checked for whether they are justified (I reach out to the corresponding devs where unsure). Those are then added to the app's allow-list, with an explanation. So why not make that explanation visible to you? That's done now:

@ebassi But that shouldn’t take more minutes. Why is it so much slower than doing `flatpak update; sudo dnf up`.

Also loading of the categories is still very slow despite also the effort to make it more performant. That leads me to the conclusioin that something is fundamentally wrong with it.

But sure, I don’t know the code base and rewriting it could lead to the same problems.

in reply to user8e8f87e

why shouldn't it take "minutes"? Do you know what is it doing? Have you profiled it?

The CLI tools don't access the whole repository information—they don't need icons or long descriptions, or other stuff, so it's pointless to compare them to a GUI that will need to show everything.

The work to make things more performant implied rewriting a bunch of code; it's not the code that is the problem: it's the scope and user expectations.

@ebassi
Not being a developer, I didn't go and look at the code, which I wouldn't be able to understand. On the other hand, I get the impression that there's really no caching. For example, if I launch the application and click on the Create category, it takes a long time to load the data. If I go back and choose another category, it takes a while to load again. okay.

@DHowett Hi Dustin. We're putting together a little meeting to improve curl and how we work together with distros. Consider yourself invited!
