@joel Well for some users it seems to be useful to locally add a reminder of an event in a shared (read-only) calendar. I guess this is why some calendar apps allow it, and it seems to be used by users, otherwise we wouldn't have got error reports and this discussion wouldn't exist

Bellingcat data scientist Miguel Ramalho helped Portuguese Outfit Expresso investigate a Brazilian company with connections to Bolsonaro last week, after the company tried to trick a Portuguese polling company. The Chega party used the data in public messaging. expresso.pt/politica/eleicoes/…

I read this Hacker News comment which begins, "When I was teaching programming my go-to was the JavaScript canvas api." news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3… Am I wrong to be frustrated that this approach completely ignores accessibility, both for blind students and for blind friends of sighted students? Is it inevitable that we will always be a complication, something to be introduced later, after people have already learned to do things the simple way that assumes everyone can see?
in reply to Matt Campbell

You're not wrong, but I think there are two important points of context here:

1. The correct way to learn anything depends on the learner. Some sighted people would be completely uninspired by drawing 2D graphics on a canvas. If teaching someone who is blind, it goes deeper than just making it accessible, or making it about audio. You have to make it about the student.
2. Realistically, many web developers never work with the canvas element in this way. I will be charitable to the HN poster and say that they're not teaching web development. They're teaching programming, with the environment just happening to be JS and canvas because it's convenient. If they're being responsible about it, they will indicate that this isn't how web pages are actually built.

in reply to James Scholes

@jscholes this is Hackernews, the site that I go to to get yelled at for merely suggesting that people take accessibility into consideration. If everyone always thought about accessibility, nothing would ever get done, we're a very small minority, and realistically, we should always be ignored in favor for getting something out the door. That Hackernews. That hackernews that says things like "Accessibility is great but its hardly humanity's goal. In most instances your burden is no one else's unless we are talking life or death.". The Hackernews that thinks accessibility is like charity. The Hackernews that says "Unless you have a legal requirement to provide accessibility, I encourage everyone to ignore this advice.". Yeah. I gave up pretty quickly. I don't need this.

In Norway, while recording a broadcast, a huge fish crashed into the journalist’s face

A video has gone viral on social networks in which a correspondent from a Norwegian TV channel talks about the strongest storm in the country in the last 30 years.

After a sudden meeting with a fish, the journalist lost his footing and fell, after which he was covered by a wave.

What happened only amused him.

Historická zajímavost, která se váže k tomuto dni.

Dne 26.2. 1991 Tim Berners-Lee (který vynalezl World Wide Web) představil první užitečný webový prohlížeč.

Byl to i první program, který používal FTP (protokol přenosu souborů) i HTTP (protokol pro přenos hypertextu), což byl jeho další vynález.
