In my personal de-googleing efforts I've come as far as to ditch @Chrome and to switch my default search engine to @duckduckgo .Now I would love to drop gmail and move to something like @Tutanota. This will involve some work, but seems manageable. After that I would want to move away from Google Maps. This on the other hand seems way more difficult. I still haven't found any other app that contains all the features Google Maps has. #enshittification

Někdo by možná byl nasranej, že jede domů na kole a ono chčije.

Já to využil jako výzvu abych otestoval blatníky na #kolo a projel úplně všechny louže.

Skákání do louží má terapeutickej účinek v každým věku, fakt super :)

"To all my writer friends that use MS Word - Microsoft has turned their Al bits and bots on to automatically go through anything done via Word. Here's how to turn it off. File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options > Privacy Settings > Connected Experiences"

On the Mac I found it under Word/Excel/Etc > Preferences > Privacy, and near the bottom was the checkbox for "Turn on optional connected experiences" which of course was on by default.

What is time sync? When I use this phrase, I'm referring to empathic energy connections which make people want to eat, sleep, and communicate around the same time, without talking to each other about it, from potentially thousands of miles away. AP and I have been doing this for years. But in this case, I'm adopting AP's eat times. And he's borrowing my sleep times. What a weird combination. Oh well. Virtual family time sync ftw.
in reply to Winter blue tardis🇧🇬🇭🇺

@tardis Well Arthur and I go back 18 years, if that says anything. I also do that with at least two friends that I've known for 15+ years. But like you said, there has to be a strong mutual connection.

As posts about Be My Eyes support on the Meta glasses flood your timeline today, please remember that it's only available in five of the world's richest English-speaking countries. Again.
in reply to James Scholes

Yeah, again! Bleh, whatever, even the glasses are a fortune here, AI is also not exactly very allowed, although Be My AI is allowed, GPT and PI, specifically the last, are banned from this country's appstore. Nice things get banned in poor countries, folks.

Btw: mají tu i ofiko účet @openvibe

Hey #VisuallyImpaired / #blind friends: If you see a post containing an image with no alt text, reply to that message and tag @altbot. It'll reply to you with alt text for the image. Tres cool! :-)

(Your reply can also be a private mention, if you don't want others to know. But if you keep it the same privacy as the original, then you'll also help other people)

I just asked my Google Home to start a stopwatch. The response: "Sorry, I can't set stopwaqtches anymore on this device.". My question: "Why the heck not?" I mean, the Google home used to be able to set stopwatches. It's a feature that wasn't costing Google anything and it's not like it needed to be maintained. Why on earth would they remove such an obvious and useful feature?
in reply to Al Puzzuoli

Wow, well, first, because it's Google. They can build super cool stuff, and then destroy it when it no longer serves them. Stupid, but whoever says it's not a fact, isn't aware enough of what's going on.

The first virtual meeting occurred in…1916?

"The telephone connections involved traversed about 6,500 kilometers (about 4,000 miles) across 20 states, held up by more than 150,000 poles running through 5,000 switches. … more than 5,100 members attended."

They even had break-out sessions and a musical interlude.

@internetarchive First, I'm thrilled that many of your services are back online.
I'm noticing that, with many collections of books and audio dramas, while individual assets are available to download, zip files containing those collections report that the item is not available. Is this a known issue?
Here's an example URL.
archive.org/details/OTRR_X_Min…
Individual assets are available but the zip file is unavailable.

Question for those folks using Ray Ban Meta glasses, when you ask for your current location do you just get a city location or geographic location? I tend to get Sydney or you are on the Central Coast, not my current street location or suburb.
in reply to DAVID WOODBRIDGE

Yep, no location here, has never been any different. I am not quite sure why glasses behave in this way since the information is definitely available from Apple to other apps.

I'm going to start listing some good things that have happened in society, and I know a lot of you are going to want to say, Well, that's all over now, it will all be taken away, but remember nothing lasts forever, even the bad stuff. So, instead of giving into despair and hopelessness, think for a second, and instead of tearing down hope, add to the list.

The idea that we would have open legal gay marriage in my lifetime wasn't something I believed would happen, but here we are.

I can buy legal recreational Marijuana in my state.

The show Drag Race not only exists, but it has for a long time, and it's very popular.

AIDS is no longer a death sentence.

And to add to that, you can take a drug that will just stop you from getting it.

There is a vaccine for Malaria.

I can just go buy an electric car.

When I was a kid, parents hitting kids was the rule, not an exception.

In my teens and 20's, I never met a transitioned or transitioning Trans person, now I know lots of them.

Abortion pills exist.

There are tenant union.

There is a vaccine against cervical cancer.

Women make up more than half of the college educated work force.

Millions of people showed up to protest police brutality in 2020, I know that's not enough, but if you compare that to the past, or even Rodney King, it's a big fucking deal.

Things are rough, and we are scared, but we haven't just been treading water, and we won't just sit in misery. It's never going to be perfect, but we can be better.

in reply to Ricki Gray Area Witch Tarr

The thing about positive changes is that they take a long time to institute, and often we don't notice positive change, it just becomes a part of our lives. This is why staying the course is imperative and why education is so important. And BTW negative changes can take a long time to institute too, so we should fight them as hard as we can.

We got the water blasting, water washing man in today to make the outside of the house look amazing before people start viewing it. But now, the chemicals make it smell like a public swimming pool.
I think the trick now is that we're supposed to bake cookies, or bread or something, to give it a homely smell. Oh the carbs, the carbs!

So, we’re going to spend billions of dollars deporting people whose labor we exploit to hold down food costs while also surrendering all the taxes they pay without receiving benefits.
