Internships like Google Summer of Code prioritize people who have very little to no experience with free and open-source software (FOSS)
To get a job, employers prioritize people who have a formal experience, so internships are perfect for that
I have too much experience to be qualified for an internship, but I have no formal experience to be qualified for a job
Make it make sense please

I've no more fucks to give
Though more fucks I’ve tried to get
I’m over my fuck budget, and I'm now in fucking debt
I've no more fucks to give
My fuck fuse has just blown
I've been hunting for my fucks all day but they've upped and fucked off home
I've no more fucks to give
My fuck rations are depleted
I've rallied my fuck army but it's been fucking defeated

McDonald's Netherlands is catching flak for a stupefying AI-generated video, which was roundly condemned on social media.Joe Wilkins (Futurism)
No later than yesterday I had a downvote and skip a video I was watching as the person said "I used Gen AI".... claiming it's art.
Fuck. That.
And YT suggested that video again. Because they can't take a clue.
Are there any good video players for Linux for TV shows? The user experience I'm seeking is:
- I select a folder to play
- I start watching
- I close the app
- Sometime later, I reopen the app and it loads the playlist I was watching, at roughly the same position
In essence, I want the Netflix viewing experience except with the media I already have.
Please don't recommend hacks. I'm looking for sane defaults. I prefer an app that targets #GNOME but, really, anything will do.
You know there is something that really make my blood boil. Two years ago I apply for a job at some place. Was denied. Now I get 2.5 years later spam like I am one of their customers.
The worst? I had in my notes they did that in Dec 2 years ago already. And I'm pretty sure I *unsubscribed*
That why we need privacy laws. (but then they are in the US so it's moot)

So Netflix bought out Warner Brothers, beating out Paramount?
What happened to keeping monopolies at bay? :(
This won't be good for audiences.
The way I see it is that any anti-trust concern about Netflix will be ignored for Skydance/Paramount, if their hostile takeover is sucessfull. Why? Because they are friends with the dictator and it funded by the Saudis masquerading as the son-in-law... Netflix deal was already above the initial offer from Skydance.
Either way the biggest losers are gonna be the people, and all the one actually making shit.
“Cows die,
Family die,
You will die the same way.
I know only one thing
That never dies:
The reputation of the one who’s died.”
-Hávamál 77
Together with verse 76, which is much the same, this is the most famous part of the Havamal. 76 starts the same and says that “a good reputation never dies, for the one who earns it well,” but I prefer this verse. It implies that the reputation you have earned at your death is the one that will stick around, whether good or bad.
The advice, then, is to work on that reputation while you have time to do so. Leaving a good legacy is more than doing one good deed, it's continuing to be a good person as you grow and change with life.
I think this also applies to remembering those who have passed. Odin wouldn’t say, “Don’t speak ill of the dead.” Everyone should be remembered as they lived, even if they were an asshole, and it’s okay to say so.

Čau, nuž zo začiatku boli viac menej 2 relatívne aktívne:
* !slovakia@sopuli.xyz
* !slovakia@lemmy.world
* !Slovakia@kbin.social
* !slovakia@lemmy.ml
No a trebalo by ľudí samozrejme. Ale snívať môžem :)
!slovakia@lemmy.world je snáď iba pre hubárov 🤣
No, keď zatiaľ nič neexistuje a aj všeobecná komunita je málo aktívna, ja to nejdem tlačiť. Viac sa sústredím na Fedivers v Esperante.
Len informačne, koľko by stála vlastná inštancia Lemmy?
