The path to bringing you a great email experience on Android devices begins with K-9 Mail, which joined the Thunderbird family earlier this summer.

As we work towards a modern redesign of desktop Thunderbird, we’re also working to improve K-9 Mail as it begins its transition to Thunderbird mobile in Summer 2023.

@DismalShadow Love the excitement (and the reference!)

Look forward to testing it out. Currently using Kaiten (K10) so hoping it'll be an easy transfer process...

@jesperchr We WANT one as much as you do, but we will get the Android version out the door first, and then figure out how to approach a potential iOS version.

Right now it's just a matter of time and resources.

Mozilla is taking over K-9 Mail? That's disappointing. I don't trust an outfit that requires its employees to have approved political views.

Have been using K9 for a while and love it. Could we please get a "Mark as Read and Archive" action/button for both desktop and Android? I've never seen that in ANY app and it's definitely useful!

tried it once, but didn't like it. Fairemail is my jam right now. If K9 will pull emails and let me archive or delete from Android notification I'll reconsider

By the way, we have an FAQ about K-9 Mail and Thunderbird for #Android that you might find interesting: blog.thunderbird.net/2022/06/f…

*PLEASE* give us the nostalgic option to keep the icon and name in the launcher, been using k-9 since the beginning and I've always loved the reference (and even built my own replica of that dog). I'm otherwise quite happy with the rest of the direction but i would very much like to keep the trusty dog...

This is amazing! as a long time user of Thunderbird on my desktops (along with #Kmail on some of my #KDE machines, I have to be honest ) and K-9 users for years, I can't be more happy to see that partnership happening!

@simoncarrignon Hey, we think the majority of KDE apps are awesome. Can't say we blame you there :D
