I read that the goal for #k9mail is to have feature parity with #thunderbird on the desktop. Does this mean k9 will be/already is an #RSS client? @thunderbird @k9mail

While K-9 Mail is developed in the open, following its development on GitHub can be somewhat tedious for a casual observer. So we’re trying something new and summarizing the most notable things that happened in the past month as we head down the exciting road to Thunderbird for Android!

Big fan of both #thunderbird and #K9Mail so this news is getting me excited about the future of both!
@cketti

This week, we are very happy to welcome Wolf Montwe to the team!

Wolf will be joining @cketti in working full-time on #K9Mail development, and ultimately #Thunderbird for #Android.

For the record, this officially doubles the size of K-9's core development team 😄

Watch for a more formal introduction from Wolf next month on the Thunderbird Blog!

A few seconds of time here and there can really add up! When you need to send an email NOW, you don't want to backtrack through menus...

So we've added a floating Compose button to K-9 Mail version 6.500 -- available now to test in Beta, on both F-Droid and Google Play.

(Learn how to access the Beta here https://forum.k9mail.app/t/how-do-i-become-a-beta-tester/68)

If $you ruin #K9Mail as you're constantly ruining our Thunderbird Add-On ecosystem, I'll not be amused at all, folks.
I mean thanks for all the effort, but look what has died already:
#YearView, #DuplicateContactsManager,
#QuoteCollapse
and LEGIONS more abandoned.
I tried to be constructive ever since, but save valuable code! Migrate the most important Add-Ons while you rampage the API.

Thunderbird for Android releases next year, and development is moving forward at a promising pace.

The path to bringing you a great email experience on Android devices begins with K-9 Mail, which joined the Thunderbird family earlier this summer.

As we work towards a modern redesign of desktop Thunderbird, we’re also working to improve K-9 Mail as it begins its transition to Thunderbird mobile in Summer 2023.

This will be a great step towards independence from big service providers. I've been using #K9Mail and #Thunderbird for a few years now, and I can't wait to see them married.

Here's a screenshot of #K9Mail's current message view. And two more showing what the NEW message design will look like! 👀

We've added some comments in the margins explaining some of the new features and UI elements.

Thunderbird for Android is taking shape, and it should be here before Thunderbird Supernova releases next summer!

(Note: This is by no means final, still a lot of polish and work to do)

#k9mail Is on #fdroid and once these two merge, it's likelly to be still available.

I really appreciate the effort and new direction # is receiving recently. But for me it all comes a little too late as I have switched to # a year ago ...
