In two years, a 90-acre plot in Scotland has gone from a count of 35 bumblebees to over 4,000. They've also doubled their species diversity.
Rewilding and habitat restoration can work, and can work fast, especially for quickly breeding species.

Did you know elephants are helping shape robot design?
Their trunks' precise movements have been inspiring new tech innovations for 20 years. Researchers are using the insights to create robotic limbs with precise grips that can work to pick up objects in the unpredictable real world:

Elephants use the tips of their trunks to grasp things with great precision – how this can help robotic design
New research has found that the two ‘fingers’ on the tip of an elephant’s trunk exert different forces. The finding will be used to improve the abilities of bio-inspired robots. The Conversation

Manatees manage their buoyancy through consistent farting. I wish I knew that trick when I was scuba diving

Can Manatees Control Their Buoyancy by Farting?
Scientific evidence exists that manatees can regulate their underwater buoyancy by expelling gas. This helps them control their rise and fall while underwater.dcmp.org

A swan on what looks like a collision course – taken as I was standing, apparently in a good spot for flying over, on a hill next to the lake it took off from. It was gaining altitude faster than it was closing the distance, so this didn't feel quite as perilous as it might appear!

Firstly, I'd just like to say thank you to all the people who have liked, boosted and commented on my images, and to all the new followers I have. It's rather humbling. 😊
Today's shot comes from a magical day in the Scottish #Highlands, a few years ago, when I was photographing red squirrels.
These charming characters are incredibly agile and can jump great distances between trees.
Here I managed to capture one as it appears to be flying down my lens.

Like this hummingbird, I can see the weekend from here, and it is bright and warm and shining with potential. Hope you have something awesome planned. My agenda is to read a thick book. What's yours?
