One of Inkscape's most important features is node editing. I really believe we're better than Illustrator, Affinity et al at this specific feature. So with this GSoC adding functionality I need people with Inkscape experience to test it and make sure it's not breaking workflows:

An investigation uncovered more than 70,000 users in Telegram group chats admitting to raping women and sharing tips on how to sedate them.
This investigation came out right after the verdict in the landmark Gisele Pelicot mass rape trial - which saw her ex husband sentenced to 20 years in prison and another 50 men found guilty of sexual assault.
Gisele was drugged by her husband for over a decade - and assaulted by at least 80 men.
Since writing about her case and why shame must change sides - I’ve endured a slew of abuse that ranges from “not all men” rallying cries to men telling me that I would be happier if I adopted more traditional values - and everything in between.
I’ve been called every slur you can think of.
I’ve been told that if I were more appreciative of men I wouldn’t be so “angry”. I’ve been labeled a misandrist and accused of not being supportive enough of the opposite sex.
I’ve been informed that it’s a woman’s job to prevent assault - and that she needs to take that job more seriously.
We take it very seriously. We can’t stop you from raping us.
If we could - there would be no more rape.
We’ve fought for decades against the patriarchal, misogynistic rape culture that leads to so much suffering and abuse … we need YOU to fight now.
There’s a certain perverseness in demanding a victim show more respect for the opposite sex while you show her absolutely no respect at all.
These men are so busy trying to make sure the internet knows they’re “good men” that they can’t even see how horrifically they’re behaving.
Or maybe they can see - and they simply don’t care.
I genuinely don’t know anymore. All I know is that no matter how many times I explain that while it’s not all men - I can’t know which men it is - the message is not sinking in.
It NEEDS to sink in.
Rape is not some rare event that is carried out by a stranger who was hiding in the bushes … it’s almost always someone we know.
As the article linked above proves - men will go to great lengths to sedate their partners, wives, girlfriends etc just so they can harm them.
They’re hiding drugs in hair products. They’re swapping tips on the internet. They’re inviting other men over to harm the women who’ve trusted them with their safety.
This is a huge fucking problem. It’s not an anomaly. It’s not something to be swept under the rug.
We won’t be silent anymore.
We are going to keep being loud. We will keep calling this behaviour out wherever we see it
Rape culture thrives in the dark. Abusers count on the shame their victims will feel as a way to keep them quiet.
Gisele Pelicot has encouraged all victims to speak up. It is not our shame - it’s theirs.
Please join us. Demand better of your fellow man. Loudly condemn these despicable acts.
Show us that you’re one of the good guys by being a true ally - not by yelling over us on the internet.
Listen. Pay attention. Speak up if you see someone being harmed.

Considering the sad closure of #Mull browser and all #DivestOS-related projects, I need to change Android browser. I was wondering which are the differences between @privacybrowser and its derivative @monocles They both seem nice and safe. Also coveryourtracks.eff.org give pretty good results! Hints?
I haven't taken the time to audit all of the changes in Monocles Browser, but I think they are fairly superficial, like changing the default homepage, search engine, and app icon. Mostly to integrate with the other suite of services offered by Monocles.

@ppatel Imho, but large chunks of America doesn't get or care for progressive agenda. This is not Sweden. Dems have to figure out how to be moderate and perhaps even less progressive. Or tune the message somehow so that it is understandable by the working class. Apparently getting rich quick resonated with a lot more young people than dems anticipated.
@vick21 @ppatel When you break it into components, most agree with the Progressive agenda. When we move right, we always lose. We're not Republicans. "Moderate" is way more conservative than it used to be.
@ppatel Well', in theory, yes. In practice there's little evidence to support the claim that Americans want progressive agenda. I wish I observed the opposite. With as much anger as Trump projected during the last election, you would have thought a tiny fraction of the popular vote went to him... Perhaps I don't understand this country, but I am speaking from my personal observations.
@vick21 I get that. But it's been documented in polls. For ex, back when Obamacare was still new, people said they were against it until you asked about its components (also, if you called it ACA, not Obamacare, but that's a different story). Then they were a YES for the components.
That's true of a number of issues and policies. There have been repeated segments about this on various political shows.
The number pi has an evil twin! It's a number called ϖ with many properties similar to π. There are even mutant trig functions connected to this number, called sl and cl.
So maybe while you were studying trig in high school, some kid in another galaxy was having to memorize all the identities for these other functions.
I doubt it. Just as pi and trig functions are connected to the circle, this number and its mutant trig functions are connected to a curve shaped like the symbol for infinity, ∞. But this curve is just less important than the circle. I'm not enough of a cultural relativist to believe there's a civilization that cares more about the shape ∞ than the shape ◯.
This ∞-shaped curve is called a 'leminscate', and I'll show it to you in my next post. A civilization will probably only get interested in ϖ when it gets interested in the lemniscate.... or the deeper math it's connected to. On our planet, it was Bernoulli, Euler and Gauss who discovered this stuff.

Apparently not many people knew that so the next version will make, what essentially is a native Android feature, easier to access via the overflow menu of contact or group chat details.
I was looking for exactly this just recently and couldn't find how to do it 🤔
When I go via the settings -> app settings -> Notifications, I can't set things for individual contacts.
But funnily there is one (bot) contact shown and I have no idea how it might have ended up there or how i could get other contacts to have an extra entry for notification settings 🤔 (last fdroid conversations on an e/os 2.5 / A13)
So making this more accessible is highly appreciated! 👍

in the abstract I enjoy the idea of the extra utility, but when practically weighing the support burden and the impact on the size and health of curl/libcurl against the value of that extra utility, it doesn't strike me as a worthwhile inclusion at this time.
I think adding #metalink support could be a good thing as it permits handling multiple sources, multiple protocols, better security and so, a better resilience and load balancing. But i'm not (yet) a developer and not aware of many implications.
BestSpeak V0.17 (eurpod.com/BestSpeak.nvda-addo…): Exceptions during TTS playback are now logged with log.error for better error logging. Added log.error("Error in _speakBg", exc_info=True) to capture any unexpected exceptions in _speakBg as well. self._reading indicates whether the driver is actively processing speech. If left as True due to an exception, the system might incorrectly assume that a speech chunk is being processed, preventing subsequent operations or causing unexpected behavior, so we now set it as false in 0.17. This may stop too many speech events from queuing up and crashing the driver. A quick test yielded still some OS14 errors when holding down space, but no squealing noises.

@kev @TomGrant91 tried to fix it with multiple re-trainings but nope. Alex was easiest to split because Mac gives you a way to just create an aif file of a text document and you splice that, but could be that it recorded at too slow of a speech rate, which at the time I did to have it pick up on all the voice inflections and such.
@TomGrant91 Oh ok. Well good job either way, you did a pretty good job. I remember when someone made an April Fools joke with the Alex voice in an addon. It used pre-recorded files, not tts.

I think it's very true that learning something can't be all fun, there will be frustration and so on involved. At the same time, I find it amazing how game-like and addicted it can be to do proofs in Coq, fiddling with tactics on the prompt. So it is possible to do maths and have fun during it.
I think they wanted to change both, but I'm blind so logos kinda go over my head and I don't notice them. I think the rename should go through the coming year.
