If you add words to your Featured Hashtags, the capitalisation is no longer auto-changed.
If you missed what happened, I'll explain, because everyone that got involved has achieved a small change that will make a big difference to some people.
Last night, I was frustrated that words I was adding to my Featured Hashtags were being changed to lower case. So, I wrote a post saying: can we fix this. And it was indeed fixed.
Hashtags need to have subsequent words capitalised (I learnt this was called camel capitalisation) so access reader apps can read them.
Not doing this disadvantages people with sight impairments. Also not good for dyslexics (Hi, fellow dyslexics). And there's cultural aspects (capital I for Indigenous, A for Aboriginal in Australia).
Techies saw my post, and were straight on to; logging reports, checking code. And @shlee our hardworking admin looked in to it.
Then it appears the founder of Mastodon saw (coincidence?) and logged a report. And overnight a code was written, and made available to every Instance/server.
Despite server issues, Aus.social made the change today.
Tip: you need to delete the same word/s in your list before adding a new hashtag with a capital.
I suggest we all adopt the practice of using capitals in multi word hashtags, to make posts more accessible.

You can follow and interact with people on any server from any server, the servers are connected.
It would really, really help the network right now if you could sign up on medium or small size servers. You will still be able to follow and interact with whoever you want, and the network as a whole will work much better.

I believe that was every year and the studies findings have been refuted. It is likely we are consuming a lot of plastic (and breathing) but that credit card analogy is incorrect.

Matrix folx is there any possibility/interest in connecting ActivityStreams to Matrix? Has there been discussion on it and what was the conclusion - is it just too different, because of the storage? A Synapse instance could talk ActivityStreams and represent a room, but the individual user logins wouldn't work.
I'm fairly familiar with both protocols so I should be able to answer this myself - but what is the core difference in philosophy?
I think just maybe something is happening here on #Mastodon, something much bigger than the April influx. The server has really slowed down, and I'm getting an occasional error page. Massive influx of new users from the bird site perhaps?
