Good morning! Here, for your listening pleasure, is an AI Eleven Labs voice run amuck...or something. I loaded a book into Eleven Readeron iOS yesterday. The app doesn't have the greatest controls for skipping all of the bits I don't care to read at the beginning. As soon as the voice starts to read the table of contents, it goes whacky.

Yesterday, I made a silly production for a group of friends. We like to sometimes welcome each other to the start of whatever week number of the year it happens to be. In 2023, week 52 started on Christmas Day, so I made a little "Merry Weeksmas!" production using Elevenlabs, featuring the Ssanta voice, and a guy called Lars, who likes gongs. Lots of inside jokes that will be somewhat familiar to those who listened to my show, Things and stuff, quite a while back, on a now-defunct internet radio station called TBRN.
I had every intention of doing something short and sweet, but what actually came out was an 18 minute, 25 second long pretty much full-on audio drama thing.
Santa ends up in a car accident and misses Christmas. Lars has a fight with his wife. Is Christmas ruined, or are you just being welcomed to week 52 in a ridiculous way?
Again, lots of inside jokes, including amateur radio references, but hopefully you'll enjoy even if you don't get them, or know that they are there to be gotten. I'll admit, I had way too much fun putting this stupid thing together. I don't get to do creative production much anymore.
Featuring a few tracks from @Onj. my Ableton Move even gets a short cameo. So does my old Yamaha Motif Classic.
I should also mention that I don't speak German. Some things may not make sense. I'm OK with that, personally, because this is a silly production.

I just installed RadioSure and tried it out using JAWS 2025. I'm so far not having much success using it. I can't get stations to play, even after ensuring that my sound source was correctly chosen in the program's audio settings. Finding the search box to look for a station was tricky but I eventually did locate it but so far no stations will play. Does it have a hotkey to move focus to the search box?
@DavidGoldfield Sorry, was out of the country. I'll find a station that works here and see if we can get it working at your end. Not sure if there's a way to update the radio database.
I really want to convey my appreciation for Ally. Of all of the generative chat bots I've used, Ally is what an AI chatbot should be. I appreciate that I can just ask it to focus on a specific image without the need to activate a button to upload a photo. Also, the latest Test Flight build now allows me to fine-tune it so that it just provides me with information without trying to act like my human best friend. It's a great service. Thank you for making it available.

These files are in unprotected MP3 format and so they can be played on any device which can play MP3 audio files, such as a Victor Reader Stream, SensePlayer, Evo 10/12, smart phone, a BT Speak, etc. I don’t know when this sale began or when it expires. To every guy who came into the comments on my Gisele Pelicot article to yell “not all men” at me and demand I give due deference to the good guys… It’s time to be quiet.
An investigation uncovered more than 70,000 users in Telegram group chats admitting to raping women and sharing tips on how to sedate them.
This investigation came out right after the verdict in the landmark Gisele Pelicot mass rape trial - which saw her ex husband sentenced to 20 years in prison and another 50 men found guilty of sexual assault.
Gisele was drugged by her husband for over a decade - and assaulted by at least 80 men.
Since writing about her case and why shame must change sides - I’ve endured a slew of abuse that ranges from “not all men” rallying cries to men telling me that I would be happier if I adopted more traditional values - and everything in between.
I’ve been called every slur you can think of.
I’ve been told that if I were more appreciative of men I wouldn’t be so “angry”. I’ve been labeled a misandrist and accused of not being supportive enough of the opposite sex.
I’ve been informed that it’s a woman’s job to prevent assault - and that she needs to take that job more seriously.
We take it very seriously. We can’t stop you from raping us.
If we could - there would be no more rape.
We’ve fought for decades against the patriarchal, misogynistic rape culture that leads to so much suffering and abuse … we need YOU to fight now.
There’s a certain perverseness in demanding a victim show more respect for the opposite sex while you show her absolutely no respect at all.
These men are so busy trying to make sure the internet knows they’re “good men” that they can’t even see how horrifically they’re behaving.
Or maybe they can see - and they simply don’t care.
I genuinely don’t know anymore. All I know is that no matter how many times I explain that while it’s not all men - I can’t know which men it is - the message is not sinking in.
It NEEDS to sink in.
Rape is not some rare event that is carried out by a stranger who was hiding in the bushes … it’s almost always someone we know.
As the article linked above proves - men will go to great lengths to sedate their partners, wives, girlfriends etc just so they can harm them.
They’re hiding drugs in hair products. They’re swapping tips on the internet. They’re inviting other men over to harm the women who’ve trusted them with their safety.
This is a huge fucking problem. It’s not an anomaly. It’s not something to be swept under the rug.
We won’t be silent anymore.
We are going to keep being loud. We will keep calling this behaviour out wherever we see it
Rape culture thrives in the dark. Abusers count on the shame their victims will feel as a way to keep them quiet.
Gisele Pelicot has encouraged all victims to speak up. It is not our shame - it’s theirs.
Please join us. Demand better of your fellow man. Loudly condemn these despicable acts.
Show us that you’re one of the good guys by being a true ally - not by yelling over us on the internet.
Listen. Pay attention. Speak up if you see someone being harmed.

I haven't taken the time to audit all of the changes in Monocles Browser, but I think they are fairly superficial, like changing the default homepage, search engine, and app icon. Mostly to integrate with the other suite of services offered by Monocles.
