APCA is no longer part of WCAG3. You can still use it, but for conformance (legal, policy, etc.) reasons you will still need to follow WCAG2. It’s possible to satisfy both in most cases.

This is it, installing Windows 11 enterprise IoT LTSC. After HP Display Control service reinstalled for the 4th time in 2 weeks, I'm done. Don't even know what scheduled task or app is causing it to reinstall as all other HP programs are off my system and I'm not motivated to dig through scheduled tasks to see if one is sneaking in to silent install it.
These builds can be found on MAS: massgrave.dev/windows_ltsc_lin…

Ah okay, this week, Matt Mullenweg also shut down WordPress'es sustainability team, that was going to implement the W3C's Web Sustainability Guidelines. 🙁 therepository.email/mullenweg-…

VLC users don’t want major accessibility improvements just because they’re labeled ‘AI’? That’s ableist as fuck.

"In less than a week and a half, the consumption habits of an individual from this monied elite had already caused, on average, 2.1 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, according to analysis by Oxfam GB. It would take someone from the poorest 50% of humanity three years to create the same amount of pollution."

Never, ever trust the eco-fash scum pushing the overpopulation agenda, it's all about the rich and their obscene consumption.

I've been finding @everydoor to be a brilliant app for editing #OpenStreetMap while out and about (or in a warm café with view of shops across the road).

This is my first video about it youtu.be/zWrDM1fZEnU?si=2W-XhI…

Thanks for sharing this, Greg! I'm using @everydoor regularly, it's my primary mapping app (next to StreetComplete which I then use when visiting the same "tracks" again, to fill in the other details). Nice vid! Though using Every Door for quite a long time now, I totally missed the filter function 🙈 Nice to see that in action 😃

there is a broken branch that I started before gtk4 was in 4.0 and broke as more API got removed. The main issue is that it build menus and that API was yanked. And moving to use GMenu, the work in incomplete. Not sure if I published the WiP branches but I can do that if needed.

My strategy is to try do as much in the gtk3 code. Like moving to Event Controllers, GMenu, etc.

Daniel's weekly email is already two years old. This is what I said about it in 2023:

I'll send out a long email there later today...

Your periodic reminder that #microsoft is not a competent or serious company:

(@bagder is remarkably restrained in the quoted responses. I would have gone off the rails, but do not need to, because we decided on day one that #varnishcache would not run on Windows).

If you think that is not bad enough, read the Cyber Safety Review Board's report about the Microsoft Exchange clowncar:

It is absolutely, entirely and 100% a Microsoft problem.

And it is a prime example of "Marcitecture":

"Whatever you do with this Unicode thing, DO NOT UPSET PROGRAMMERS so much the might look at other platforms! All existing code SHALL JUST WORK!!1!"

But what really amazes me, is how and why anybody still takes them seriously about /anything/ ?!

in reply to daniel:// stenberg://

If only the transition to native Unicode wouldn't be a gargantuan undertaking. The world isn't UTF-16, so these interfaces need to be identified (with their encoding/codepage) and a conversions put in place. Windows UTF-8 support could be a solution, but it's stuck in beta, with issues. Switching the official curl build to Unicode is an option, but there are unresolved issues, e.g. string encoding in the libcurl API is undefined. I wish this would be easier.

Proposing this patch to re-enable Unicode in curl official Windows builds. Caveats described in 2021 remain, but perhaps now the balance tilts towards giving it another go: github.com/curl/curl-for-win/c…
