We’re launching an end-of-year fundraising campaign with a simple goal: to reach 1,500 Friends of GNOME. And we need your help!

blogs.gnome.org/foundation/202…

This week we’ll also be sharing and celebrating accomplishments of GNOME over the past year here on the fediverse; be sure to follow #FriendsOfGNOME!

Finally, if you’re already a Friend of GNOME or join this month, please join us in posting with #FriendsOfGNOME as well so that we can thank you. 😊

it looks like there was an issue with the recurring PayPal options before, so they’ve temporarily been removed. We’re investigating that and other options as well!

In the meantime, one-time donations can also be made via PayPal at paypal.me/gnomefoundation, but unfortunately these won’t be tracked by the donate.gnome.org site.

We’re 50% of the way to our goal for the end of the year! 🎉

Have you joined #FriendsOfGNOME yet? If not, this is your sign to join 750 other amazing supporters:

donate.gnome.org

If so, help us keep up the momentum by sharing with your friends, especially those outside of the typical contributor community. Let’s end the year strong!

@dubstar_04 we don’t currently offer targeted/restricted funding pots as it can quickly become an accounting and budgeting nightmare. 😅

The best we can suggest at the moment is to donate to the general/unrestricted fund while making sure you let us know that’s what you’d like to see us invest in (as you have!), or to seek out individual contributors who are doing that work and support them.

If we do specific, targeted funding opportunities in the future, you’ll hear about it from this account!

@lexinova thanks for the candid reply. We happen to be based in the US but as a public charity non-profit we only serve our mission to build a diverse and sustainable free software personal computing ecosystem.

While we hope you might reconsider supporting us directly, we do understand your perspective. If you’re able, please consider supporting @fsfe or another charitable organization that is aligned with our mission this season!

@sri @cassidy well, I received meaningless boilerplate answer on July 2 (screenshot below), and @cassidy replied yesterday that the case was resolved on July 2. Which is obviously not: the request for the follow-up has come in silence since then.

More interestingly, I had received some directly connected hate speech in my DM yesterday right after this conversation. I sincerely hope that's just a coincidence.

@sri @cassidy what happened to the person who posted that kind of thing? Is it fine with everyone to have such persons in the community simultaneously speaking about safer spaces, intolerance to hate speech, and renaming blacklists and master branches to less harmful language? Maybe some follow-ups and future actions?

@shaman007 we respect the privacy of reporters, witnesses, and reported people. As such, we do not publicly discuss the specifics of reports or actions outside of published transparency reports.

You can review the code of conduct itself at conduct.gnome.org, with the committee procedures specifically detailed at conduct.gnome.org/committee-pr…; this includes how reports are evaluated and the potential actions/consequences.

We will not discuss this report further.
