Okay, I believe I have found a temporary workaround to the issue with using the Delta Chat voice message recording interface issue I reported yesterday. Basically, use the Voice Memos app to record the audio, then attach it as a file to your chat and send it off. It’s not ideal, and the issue I mentioned should definitely be fixed, but Delta Chat on iOS doesn’t actually crash, it just temporarily breaks VoiceOver in the voice message recording interface. You can use the usual swipe up gesture from the bottom of your screen to close Delta Chat and VoiceOver works normally. Figured I’d update everyone on what I discovered. @delta should know about this, as I added a comment to the GitHub issue I submitted yesterday explaining the same thing. #A11Y #Accessibility #VoiceOver #iOS #BugReport #DeltaChat

@menelion you are certainly not the only blind user of delta chat. @WofWca or @r10s and @adbenitez cared a lot for accessibility in delta and support.delta.chat/u/marcozehe… @marcozehe is a long term blind contributor and tester and they can maybe point to others

@The Gregarious Dragon @André Polykanine I'm also here enjoying #a11y of @Delta Chat and @ArcaneChat .
I don't know the concrete names but there's group of screen reader users in ukraine using delta chat as well.
The UI is simple and accessible on all major platforms.

@menelion @WofWca @r10s @adbenitez I just tried sending a voice message in the iOS app, and can confirm that there is a problem with the interaction with VoiceOver. To reproduce, find the Attach button on the bottom left, with VoiceOver running, double tap it, then flick to the right until you land on Voice Message, and double tap again. Recording starts, and VoiceOver becomes unresponsive. (1/2)

If you then double tap directly, the recording is stopped and sent. If you try to do anything else, like swiping to a different control, this fails, gives no speech feedback. I've seen this once before, in the iOS app for Signal, but that was several years ago, and I don't know how they solved it or what the cause of the problem was. So yeah, there's definitely a bug in Delta for iOS concerning voice messages. (2/2)
