#Carney ran on a build Canada platform that hasn't proposed any real nation building, rather we get pandering to foreign petro oligarchs.
Here's some nation building actions that should already be underway:
1. Get our govt data out of the USA. House it in the EU until we have a domestic datacentre.
2. Get schools across the nation off american software and networks. Like stop forcing my kid to use an enemy chromebook. This will take a large investment in infrastucture to update schools.
3. Retrofit schools, colleges and universities with renewable energy and batteries. Gift the installs and equipment to help reduce school electricity costs (and work toward climate action).
4. Similarly assist FN and especially Inuit communities getting off diesel generators. The soot is speeding melting in the Arctic.
5. Like the national railway that our ancestors built, build a national fleet of electric truck-trains (truck with 7-10 reefers). The railways are often plugged and reducing productivity.
There is something to be said when your own party faithfuls dissent on a major policy.
Hidden in the federal government’s 634-page omnibus bill C-15, the Budget Implementation Act, is a measure that has so far escaped scrutiny. Under the pretext of regulatory efficiency, Prime Minister Mark Carney plans to grant cabinet ministers the power to exempt any individual or company from any federal law on the books — except for the Criminal Code — for up to six years.
...
While the bill lays out a plan for a minister to partially inform the public of such an order, there are no timelines. The minister may also “exclude information that, in the minister’s opinion, would be inappropriate to make publicly accessible for reasons that include safety or security considerations or the protection of confidential or personal information.”
The Treasury Board Secretariat suggests the measures are necessary for regulators to keep pace with technological change and find flexible ways to evaluate whether products or services can be safely introduced in the Canadian marketplace.

RE: cosocial.ca/@ResearchForTheFro…
Are you as enraged as I am by the new Canada-Alberta energy MOU?
One way you can take action is by supporting communities and grassroots movements that are fighting for climate and environmental justice, including land defenders facing unwanted oil and gas pipelines.
This pipeline will never happen, and we'll make f**cking sure of it.
Attached: 1 image With giving season upon us, we'd love your help to fund the Community Research Lead program in 2026, so that more Indigenous, Black and racialized communities can lead their own research, exposing systemic injustices and informing …Research for the Front Lines (CoSocial)
The "Progressive Conservative" are back in Federal Government. They are just under a different banner.

Alberta and Ottawa signed a memorandum of understanding that gives the province special exemptions from federal environmental laws and offers political support for a new oil pipeline to the B.C. coast.
The deal ties approval of “one or more” privately financed pipelines to a carbon capture, utilization and storage project in northeast Alberta.
The pipeline proposal will be submitted to the Major Projects Office by Canada Day.
There are several references to supporting Indigenous “co-ownership” of the pipeline.
The B.C. government is opposed to the pipeline deal, which Premier David Eby said would allow some tanker traffic on the province’s North Coast despite a current ban.
Eby warned that carving out exemptions to a tanker ban “is like explaining to a vegetarian that they’ll still be a vegetarian if they eat a few steaks.”

If you do not have prescription insurance coverage, through your employer, etc., you're obliged to have RAMQ prescription coverage.
However, RAMQ has changed who is eligible and is NOT COVERING COVID-19 VACCINES IF YOU'RE NOT ELIGIBLE.
150$ isn't even what Moderna/Pfizer, etc. spends to make each COVID-19 vaccine.
François Legault and the CAQ government are all about profits before people.
The point of Santé Québec is to privatize almost ALL healthcare. It's doing so, right now, w/ the COVID-19 vaccines.
Santé Québec oversees the ordering process for the COVID-19 vaccines given to at-risk groups, which are sent to wholesalers and then distributed to pharmacies.
For the paid vaccines, Santé Québec is not involved. Pharmacies place their orders directly with wholesalers, who order the vaccines from manufacturers.
“Surveillance is happening but it’s at a much lower level than it used to be. We don’t have a complete picture of virus circulation of the variants that are out there... there’s a collective amnesia right now about COVID-19."

Good news though... I absolutely cannot see how PP can win his leadership review this winter. And he'll be stuck being a MP in the middle of nowhere 😂
After a Con MP crossed the aisle yesterday... Another Con MP (who was rumoured to cross the aisle) has resigned. And that's after we've heard of talks of threats made to them from PP's team.
🍿
(I really do hope they're not actually getting threatened... I want our politics to be better, damn it)
I’m actually in favour of increasing our military spending, mostly because I anticipate the US deciding at some to point to switch to military means to annex us if their economic measure aren’t successful.
What worries me is how much of this new spending is going to be directed right to the hostile country that’s threatening us.
We should be lessening our dependence on the US militarily just much as we should be should be lessening our dependence on them economically.

I encourage every Albertan (and Canadian really) to listen to what UCP MLAs have to say about the notwithstanding clause, it boils down to something very simple:
We support the Canadian Constitution, and that includes the notwithstanding clause, because we believe those rights were never actually meant to be for everybody. We’ll be the judge of who gets rights and who doesn’t.
Their position really is that simple: rights aren’t for everyone.
And that’s why *every* Albertan - every Canadian - should be working to get these people and their ideological cousins (in Ottawa and elsewhere) out of office and as far from any influence in society as possible as quickly as possible.
Thank the gods Carney cut the luxury yacht tax, eh?
No longer will people buying a yacht worth over a quarter of a million dollars be saddled with a luxury tax. Ditto your private jet or helicopter with a value above $100,000. Whew.
Corporations will enjoy a “super-reduction” of more than 2% points to Canada’s marginal effective tax rate, and the 1% tax on foreign-owned vacant housing is gone.
Trudeau's proposed increase to the inclusion rate on the capital gains tax is also scrapped.
At least they didn't call it the Canada Strong & Free & Proud Budget. #cdnpoli
