#Chromium itself is not the problem. Look at #firefox. If you do nothing it collects your data. Use #librewolf which I miss here, and the story is different.
I also miss #mullvadbrowser and #firefox_focus. #invidious in the meantime is unfortunately almost useless. I miss #standardnotes #Threema, #magicearth, #KeepassDX, #strongbox.

use #invidious to look for videos, play them locally through mpv

The G often pounds invidious instances, making it impossible to play videos through the service. However, searching for videos in most cases still works. This is all you need to get a url of the video and then stream it locally through yt-dlp (mpv).

Today I have found out when enabling subtitles on #youtube the area where the subtitle track is playing is no longer configured as so called live region so youtube subtitles are no longer read automatically with a #screenReader if it's running. I've also looked at #invidious which has aria-live set to off. This is unfortunate as I was expecting this to just work.
