I'm still working on difficulty shifts later on in gameplay, but it was fun coming up with all the sound effects, the styling and design, and the ballistics model, all while wrangling the AI to stay on target and fixing the output for overall #A11y and usability. Is there a website that, given a surname and PRL (passenger record locator, that 6-character code from your boarding pass), will give me access to the full PNR (passenger record) in its raw format, including any SSRs / notes that might have been put in?
I know that basically any travel agent can do this through their GDS, I know that there are sites that show this info in an "user-friendly" format, but an user-friendly format isn't what I want here.
"You have to file a GDPR data request for X and they'll give you the data" is also an acceptable answer btw.

I'm going to admit that I am doing something immature in my #homelab and I'm looking for opinions. I've got multiple #XCPng hosts, all using local storage. I have no NFS or iSCSI storage. That's kinda silly. Shared storage is super useful and I'm literally not using it.
Unless I go to some serious effort to make a high-performance SAN, I expect network storage performance to be so-so for VM storage, but maybe I'm too pessimistic. I currently only have copper gigabit in the rack. No fiber, no 2.5G copper or anything like that. I'm not sure if that's going to be viable for NFS or iSCSI.
I could dedicate a host to running TrueNAS Core with a bunch of storage. But what has always bugged me about this is that my storage host becomes a single point of failure for all the compute nodes. #TrueNAS is super reliable but everything has to reboot once in a while, and these stupid enterprise-grade servers take anywhere from 4-8 minutes to boot. If I had a single storage node, and I needed to reboot it for an OS upgrade, everything would hang for a while. That's no good. Not updating the OS on the storage system is also not good.
So what am I supposed to be doing for shared storage on a #Xen cluster? How do I avoid a storage host becoming a single point of failure? How do you update and reboot a storage node, without disrupting everything that depends on it?
I keep thinking that flatpak portals are the poor man's version of ocaps that we need temporarily in order to Get It and then fully transition to them, but that's probably not the answer you are looking for.

Das verhindert, dass der Hodensack runterhängt, wenn Du aufstehst, und schränkt dessen Beweglichkeit ein. Hatte ich damals nach der Vasektomie für ein paar Tage und hat da zumindest geholfen. Vielleicht wäre das bei Dir ja auch eine Möglichkeit, die Schmerzen beim Aufstehen zu mildern?
Update: Schmerzen sind nun deutlich besser, nachdem am Freitag die Antiobiotika-Therapie umgestellt worden ist. Die Schwellung ist aber noch sehr ausgeprägt. Deswegen liege ich auch noch die meiste Zeit - aufstehen und laufen ist ein echtes Problem, wenn da unten gefühlt mehrere Kilo hängen.
Update 23.12.: Heute Kontrolle beim Arzt. Nur noch wenig Schmerzen, die mit Ibuprofen gut beherrschbar sind. Kein Fieber mehr. Aber die Schwellung ist immer noch massiv. Es könnte noch Wochen oder gar Monate dauern, bis diese zurückgeht.
Der Mensch gewöhnt sich an fast alles , und so kann ich normalen Alltagsaktivitäten wieder nachgehen, wenn auch eingeschränkt. Muss nur auf die richtige Tragetechnik achten und es nicht übertreiben.
Auch von mir weiter gute Besserung! Und schön vorsichtig sein, nicht dass durch die andere Tragetechnik andere Bereiche des Körpers falsch belastet werden.
This is cool, wonder if that new UI came with any accessibility for screen reader users? NI just updated Kontakt with some accessibility improvements, but I haven't yet given it a try to see how much can be done.
It's coming! I think I can say that. It didn't make the cut for this release, but it is enabled by the new UI framework and sounds like it's at the top of the list for the next one. Separately from Absynth I've been back and forth with the accessibility lead over at NI.

Igual con las sintonías de programas de radio, si no puedo saltármelas dejo de oirlos. Mañaneros de la 1, yo lo vería pero tiene una música totalmente crispante de fondo, bajita pero audible, y ya no puedo ni oir lo que dicen, mi cerebro solo puede escuchar la musiquita. Que no es por la música en sí sino por meterla con calzador donde no viene a cuento. Ni aporta ni la puedes escuchar, todo mal.

I’ve noticed a trend of more and more podcasters and YouTubers that I follow, slowly dropping the music they once used as intros and outros for their content; and that makes me sad. I get it. Feeding “the algorithm” is a constant battle and you have only so much time.
But the world seems diminished just a little bit more, every time a bit of music and creativity gets dropped.
I was in radio in a past life, and would definitely have used this music had I had it then.
@montef I do a podcast with my wife and we have bespoke intro music, so that if you were to hear it come up in rotation, you'd immediately know it was us. As a musician, no music in things like that makes me sad also.
Yep. It’s definitely a way that my brain associates an artist/presenter with their work. When the music plays, my brain gets itself ready for their content. When I suddenly hear their voices, without “their music”; it’s jarring.
A good friend of mine used to do a podcast ( @KingShawn and “Your Mac Life”). Even today, when I see an email or social media post from Shawn, I *still* hear his theme music in my head. Brains are so weird, and how they catalogue things.

I wanted something simple, fast, easy-to-use and a one-click download, so I made it happen.
@griseldagimpel Right, there's a reason for that. Some podcasts make 0 money, so you don't have to pay for music. If you're doing something where you'll get payment, I'd like a little cut of that. For your payment, you get access to the collection in either.wav or .flac which is of course superior to mp3 anyway, so it's not that you're just paying for the same files you already have access to. I don't believe in that.
(I'm currently working on an audio drama/fiction podcast. It would be awesome if it made money, but right now, I'm in the "will be happy if I can pay my voice actors rather than obtaining their services via bartering". So I'll have to check out the selection.)
@griseldagimpel Then please do. Until you make money, I want nothing other than attribution. Most people that find the collection are students or bedroom podcasters making 0 money anyway, for which I ask nothing other than a shout-out. That's often the best thing for me anyway, is word-of-mouth.
@griseldagimpel Let's be honest though, people could use them for commercial ventures and I couldn't stop them. I run on donations and good will, that's all I can do. I'd like to think that a collection this size would keep people honest anyway, but I can't enforce it.

I'm curious why you appear to have rolled your own license. If so, doing this can create problems as you may not end up with the protections you wished to have. As they have been honed over many years, the Creative Commons licenses are often a good choice and provide real protection. Your license looks to be most similar to CC BY-NC-SA which allows free use, modification and sharing but not commercial use.

Well, thank you, that's a great collection!! Maybe it would be worth mentioning that one cannot use these in any commercial project. (Note: this is not polemical, I'm quite happy with that, but I know from experience that if you write "for any kind of project imaginable", many won't even bother reading the full licence...)
@tizianomattei I've been having a hard time working out how best to put that, someone suggested switching to CC instead. I could do that. People can use them commercially but if they do, I'd hope they're honest enough to pay me a little something for that. I do provide.wav and.flac on request if they do so, because paying for mp3 just isn't my idea of fun.
That would be generous of you. Why don't you simply require that in your license? Or, you could state that lossless WAV/FLAC files are for sale on request (not that this would prevent some from using the mp3s anyway, but...)

Been wanting to play with Jujutsu for a while, but its default log display with its console graphics and unicode glyphs is not as accessible as it could be.
Thankfully it's very configurable. I tweaked the default log templates to shorten change IDs to their minimal unique lengths, shortest 1, so changes can be identified by a single character in some cases. I also replaced the unicode graphics for the graph display with Graphviz so you see things like q -> py for commits with single parents or q -> {py, x} for children of merge commits with multiple parents. Now the log display looks like this, from jj's official repo with some empty changes I added to test:

I usually find it somewhat understandable, when I don't, I can usually figure out how to get what I want via some cursed revset query.
Worst case scenario, `jj help -k revsets | llm 'How do I...' does the job.
Your template is definitely something I could see myself using though. I thought about raising an issue with them and asking for a "screen reader mode" (this is really something terminals should do natively, but I've said that enough tinmes already).
Employee of a client calls me, absolutely furious. She has just arrived at the office and her laptop will not connect to the wifi. Clearly this network is broken. I suggest a couple of tests, like checking whether the network shows up (it does not) and trying a cable connection (nothing happens). So I timidly suggest checking whether there is actually power in the office, since there is construction going on. Boom. No power. She then asks me where the switch is to turn it back on. I have no idea, of course. Their electrical system is not exactly my responsibility. She snaps at me, asks why they even pay me, and hangs up with enough force that I can almost feel it.
I grin, although slightly annoyed. Luckily the people who work with her are nothing like that.
Half an hour later she calls again, apologizing deeply for how she treated me. She tells me she had a very rough night and even shares the details. Nearly thirty minutes on the phone, venting. Out of respect I will not retell anything, but she really should have stayed home today. She deserved it. She just did not want to tell her managers because she feared they would think she only wanted a longer weekend after yesterday’s holiday.
But her managers are not fools, and they immediately sent her home to rest and take care of her loved ones.
Too often honest people like her pay the price for those who act sly or arrogant. It is not fair, but the smart ones can tell the difference. Not always, but quite often.
