School strike, week 251.
Today, I graduate from school, which means I’ll no longer be able to school strike for the climate. This is then the last school strike for me, so I guess I have to write something on this day.
When I started striking in 2018 I could never have expected that it would lead to anything. After striking every day for three weeks, we were a small group of children who decided to continue doing this every Friday. And we did, which is how Fridays For Future was formed.
Some more people joined, and quite suddenly this was a global movement growing every day. During 2019, millions of youth striked from school for the climate, flooding the streets in over 180 countries. When the pandemic started, we had to find new ways to protest.
With time, we started to get back on the streets again. We’re still here, and we aren’t planning on going anywhere. Much has changed since we started, and yet we have much further to go.
We are still moving in the wrong direction, where those in power are allowed to sacrifice marginalised and affected people and the planet in the name of greed, profit and economic growth. They continue to destabilise the biosphere and our life supporting systems. We’re rapidly approaching potential nonlinear ecological and climatic tipping points beyond our control.
And in so many parts of the world, we are even speeding up the process. There are probably many of us who graduate who now wonder what kind of future it is that we are stepping into, even though we did not cause this crisis.
We who can speak up have a duty to do so. In order to change everything, we need everyone. I’ll continue to protest on Fridays, even though it’s not technically “school striking”. We simply have no other option than to do everything we possibly can. The fight has only just begun. _________________________

This reminds me of .mod files from the 90's but in chiptune format. Takes me back to my school days in all the right ways. I'd have played this on a Friday afternoon at about 4:30 as I was getting ready to enjoy my weekend. Love this.

I’m so excited! I made Victorian-inspired pockets attached to a waistband (w velcro). Women’s pockets in the 1800s could accommodate everything from gin flasks, telescopes, to botanical maps and sewing accessories‼️
I made my pockets comically large to make a point, so, it fits everything I need - my phone, charging cable, wallet, comb, hand sanitizer, a tiny notebook, and my e-reader. If this sticks, it will be a game changer 👜🚫

@alan As you already have users, you can switch them easily to Revolutionary. I'd say it's the better deal, but in the end it's your decision. You can also stick with Premium.
@linus We've thought about it, but the server is a very complex thing, which can't be set up locally. We'd like to built a small open source server for self-hosting, but right now we focus on improving the clients by adding features & improving usability.

The point of a block button isn't tos top people from seeing your posts (unless you're protected of course); it's to stop them from harassing you. I've never agreed with Twitter refusing to show you someone's profile if they've blocked you, because it gives the illusion of privacy to people who don't know better but any determined aggressor can easily circumvent it. @miki I don't really buy it. Will it stop people from following you, adding you to lists, retweeting your posts, etc? Will people intuitively know to look for this "stronger mute" feature? Why not just change the way block works so that the public aspects of someone's profile are still visible when you're logged in?

Jen ta nenažranost prostředků serveru je někdy šílená. A to mám nastavené úlohy v cronu. Můj důvod přechodu byl v podstatě stejný. Jako bonus je tu možnost zpracovávat logy http serveru, což se v některých případech hodí, takže žádné cookies. 🙂
