the sooner Linux can actually support low latency audio applications like Ableton and Reaper (Reaper exists on Linux but is completely inaccessible), the sooner I switch.
Yeah, all that comes up. But there was a native beta about a year ago. I guess it's still not released. Clearly they can do it, because Move runs on Linux, and it's about as low latency as it gets. Granted, they're doing some custom stuff for the carrier board because Raspberry Pi doesn't have the I/O, and the DAC kind of sucks anyway.
@BorrisInABox It's funny you bring this up because I was on Ableton's discord server earlier and they were talking about Linux support. It's something quite a few people want, but doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon. Also important to note that many plug-ins probably won't run over there, and a lot of the accessibility advancements we've made over the past few years, like with JUCE and Native Instruments, aren't supported either.

We in BITS and others are collecting vital data to try to get resolved to make all widgets or at least understand the state of widgets across the board using this combination. After the recent Rubygems drama, I felt anxious, and trapped, frustrated that I canβt escape evil people trying to dominate my life.
I found myself grieving, and mourning the future I grew up thinking we would have; but also feeling hope, that itβs not too late to stop enabling these people, and start choosing kindness.

In my personal opinion: Instead of banning, say, Chinese companies from delivering infrastructure components like the EU is pondering with Huawei and mobile networks, the ultimate goal should be to demand open source software/firmware for these components and reproducible builds of all software components so #DigitalSovereignty becomes default.
Question. Ball Bouncer is a game I've played a lot--too much, really--and I want to give something to the developers. I got it from www.ddt.one, but I can't tell if they are the developers (Sooslandia Games) or just a sort of repository site. If I donate to ddt.one, does that donation go to the actual people behind Ball Bouncer?
My suggestion: If the developer hasn't provided a link in the README to donate, sponsor, or whatever, then just accept the game as something they did for its own sake and chose to freely give. External rewards can actually hurt that kind of intrinsic motivation.
@matt Fair point. I've just gotten so much enjoyment out of the game that I wanted to give back in some way, but I know what you mean about a project not being as fun when people start paying for it.
On second thought, if the developer has offered an email address or any other way to contact them, it can't hurt to ask if they'd like some kind of donation.
Okay, so I encountered my first ever annoying issue with Joplin today. Annoying to troubleshoot, and annoying to fix. If you're having a weird problem where #joplin on #windows crashes a minute after launch, you need to go to Joplin's github and download the latest release. This is a problem with the auto-updater. Downloading from the website won't actually work, because the download link on the website leads to an older version. You need: github.com/laurent22/joplin/releases/download/v3.5.6/Joplin-Setup-3.5.6.exe
Re: last boost (mastodon.stickbear.me/@evilcooβ¦), first a little context especially for my sighted followers: As I understand it, that post is particularly about apps that, while technically accessible to blind people, aren't as pleasant to use with a screen reader as they could be. Yes, it's often necessary to deal with such apps to some degree. But, especially within the blind community, we shouldn't criticize each other for having limited tolerance for such things and choosing accordingly.
I'm just going to put this out there because I know I'm going to have more than one person. Ask. When you ask me why I don't use such and such app, and I tell you it's because it's messy, that's perfectly valid. I shouldn't have to swipe through seven controls just to get from post to post. Also, please don't tell me it's not a big deal. When I'm frustrated with something that doesn't work and you come back with. It's not a big deal, that makes me feel invalid. I don't like it. What might not be a big deal for you? Might piss me off to no end. Don't do that. It's not cool.
Absolutely right. It is particularly painful reading posts from apologists of apps like Discord and Steam because they're quote "better than they used to be" unquote (which in the case of Steam was unusable).
When legitimate accessibility work has gone into improving a thing, it should be acknowledged and supported while not equating progress with perfection. Accepting accessibility scraps is not a positive thing.

I don't use apps like whatsapp or skype because they sell my data and don't trust them.
I was hoping for a foss alternative to talk to my parents, regular folk who need something easy to set up on their android devices, ideally through fdroid.

I find it somewhat amusing that not agreeing to iClouds new terms of service resulted in iCloud Mail and other things not working until I agreed on all my Apple devices, but iCloud Mail set up in Thunderbird on two Windows machines was, of course, completely oblivious. "Who cares about license agreements, anyway? I'm just here for the mail", said Thunderbird.
