Just got registered with a local GP in Ireland¹ and their first email states that all their staff are “formally trained in GDPR procedures and any information you give will be used in the strictest confidence.”

Their email address is @gmail.com

🤦‍♂️

¹ This, in and of itself, is a bloody miracle these days, apparently, and only happened because it’s a new practice that’s just opening up.

Watching this with interest: first #AI (ChatGPT) based screen
reader:https://www.typeahead.ai/

This could change the screen reader paradigm and I'll try the #Windows version when it's available, but I worry that using it for work and remaining #GDPR compliant will not be possible.

This also heralds a much bigger paradigm change - the UI for everyone will change and the GUI as we know it may well disappear.

A well intentioned piece of advice for all the data brokers out there: If you offer the personal data you‘ve amassed to a privacy professional, they might hit you with everything the GDPR has in store. And yes, that just happened. 🤦‍♂️😆

"It is illegal for European companies to use Google Analytics "as is". By applying technical measures like pseudonymisation it is still possible to use #GoogleAnalytics in compliance with the #GDPR." (Source: Tutanota)

This morning: we publish analysis of #GDPR enforcement as we near 5 years.

75% of Ireland's GDPR decisions in EU-level cases have been overruled by the European Data Protection Board.

The #Go team is considering to add telemetry to their compiler/toolchain:
https://github.com/golang/go/discussions/58409

As if that alone wasn't horrible enough, they want to make it opt-OUT.

I can't think of a reason why opt-OUT would be acceptable ... in any case.

This comment sums it up nicely 👇

You should be able to exercise your #GDPR #DataRights directly in the chat prompt. “I want to access all the personal data you have on me after your verify my identity” “ok thanks, now delete it from your model, and untrain yourself on it” #SyntheticMedia #ChatGPT

I know there is a lot going on at Twitter right now, but here's one more thing. Twitter is ignoring #GDPR requests from people to delete their DMs.

At the moment, when you press delete on a Twitter DM (an individual message or conversation) the DM isn't actually deleted from Twitter's servers, just your inbox view.

So people in Europe have been making requests for Twitter to blitz all their messages. It hasn't properly answered them. And now regulators are looking at it

After 2 years of negotiations with Microsoft, the German Data Protection Conference issued a damning statement: German schools must not use MS365 due to privacy violations.

Fortunately, Linux, LibreOffice & Tutanota are very good alternatives. 💪🔐

Unsealed documents in the #CambridgeAnalytica class action lawsuit in Northern California revealed how Meta/Facebook will be unable to comply with the Digital Services Act or the GDPR because its internal data management systems are absolute “anarchy” per report by the Irish Council on Civil Liberties.

Done, and done. Well, half done. Unfortunately I don't fall under jurisdiction of the #GDPR.
#gdpr

@dch If you have #gdpr rights, they have 30 days to comply or they’re in breech (I believe they can extend it another 30 days under certain circumstances).

They’ve already been reprimanded and possibly fined for that in Ireland, I believe.

oops I already deactivated my Blue Bird but I do not know if I demanded to erase all my data #GDPR - is there a way to still do that??
#gdpr

@datn I’m trying out the service provided by Your Digital Rights:

It creates an email similar to the one in the screenshot for your and they also apparently tell you when to follow up, etc.

Nice! How/where did you demand the #GDPR erasure?

🐌The Irish DPC is taking 4 years to draft a decision enforcing basic # rights. @edri member @noybeu brings to attention the extensive delays in cases against # in Ireland, which end up being paid from taxpayers’ money. "LfDI expects schools to offer pupils alternatives to the MS365 # service for # operations by the summer vacations in 2022.

From the coming school year, the use of MS 365 at schools must be terminated or its data protection-compliant operation must be clearly demonstrated by the responsible schools."

This is how the SA of Baden-Württemberg starts its press release stating that M365 is not # compliant and it must be discontinued.

The # protects EU citizens everywhere worldwide, and EU residents of any nationality. In practice an American (for example) living in the US can probably get away with using an EU address and mail a request from an EU post office. The recipient may just accept it w/out demanding proof of EU ties -- worth a try.
